Rumor: Call of Duty 2020 set to be reboot of Black Ops series, takes place in entire Cold War era
We’re still awaiting the launch of this year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but the rumor mill for what’s coming beyond this year has been full of news for a while now.
Back in May of this year, Kotaku broke the story that Call of Duty 2020 was in upheaval, and Activision decided to put Treyarch in charge of developing Call of Duty 2020 with Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software to support the title. Kotaku also reported that the game will be set in the Cold War and have a campaign.
Since then, further details on the title have been discussed in many ways, but all have just been unconfirmed rumors. One of those details is that Treyarch is aiming for the title to be a reboot of the Black Ops series, similar to that of Infinity Ward’s rebooting the Modern Warfare series.
LongSensation, who has accurately leaked some details on Call of Duty, tweeted out that there has been two names considered for the game: Call of Duty: Black Ops or Call of Duty: Black Ops V.
He also states in a tweet that the game will be the entire Cold War era, including Vietnam and Korean War in a single game. And, the title may be more gruesome than this year’s Modern Warfare.

Activision has not commented on any of the details surrounding Call of Duty 2020, and we should not expect any official details till next year.
Treyarch’s 2020 title will be also be a cross-generation title with the new PlayStation and Xbox consoles set to debut in Holiday 2020.
