Decline in console sales in france

The French video game market stood at 5.5 billion euros in 2022 in France, against 5.6 billion euros last year, a decline of 1.6%. After the records of 2021, this constantly growing sector is returning to its level of 2020, a particularly dynamic year for this industry due to the enthusiasm that was characterized during periods of confinement.

The video game market is divided into three sectors: mobile, PC and console gaming. The console market – in its entirety when games, accessories and machines are included – is the most lucrative, since it represents 46% of industry turnover in France, according to the 2022 report of the SELL. Down, however: totaling nearly 2.6 billion euros, it is down 6.6% compared to 2021. The supply problems for the latest generation consoles for most of the year are explained by part of the fall in sales of these platforms.

The turnover of computer video games, when we include machines, accessories and games, increased by 5.8%, to reach 1.5 billion euros. That of mobile games for its part stagnated at 1.4 billion euros.

"The market is relatively stable in a complicated economic and political context", underlined the president of SELL, Julie Chalmette. The year 2023 is however promising for publishers who will benefit from the return to the shelves of the latest consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series), which began at the beginning of the year.

Per ps5 vorrei solo capire se nelle prossime settimane riuscirà a tenere dei numeri stabili sopra le 20 mila unità. Il sogno di Ace di vedere la ps5 che supera la Switch e gia morto

L'avevo dimenticato. Però sulla console c'è già World e lo stesso Rise è disponibile da una vita su Switch, perché comprare adesso una PS4 per giocarlo?
Ho il dubbio che l'anno scorso le vendite non siano state tracciate correttamente. Oppure Sony aveva sospeso la produzione per concentrare tutte le risorse su PS5.
