e... la folliaDid you know that Nintendo brought Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers to the 3DS in May? Perhaps not, as it definitely went under the radar. It was eShop-only in North America, and with Switch soaking up the limelight right now, the game’s producer believes that folks may not be aware that it was released.
In an interview with Kotaku, Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe spoke about wanting more people to play Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers. He also spoke about interest in creating another title with Dillon as an RPG.
Tanabe stated:
“I really only know about what people are saying online. What I see personally is that many people are not aware that this game has been released, and I want more people to play this game.”
“I”ve actually been wanting to make an RPG with Dillon as a main character for a while. I am hoping this game reaches a wide enough audience that we can make that plan come true in the future.”
“I bet the players who like Dillon and the setting actually are pretty secretive about it. I would like more people to know about the game. It’s not like a popular restaurant, so there won’t be a sudden crowd or a long wait time or anything. So, to any new players who have an interest now after reading this article, please give the game a try. You won’t regret it.”
Tingle, the peculiar character from the Zelda series, has been featured in his own games before. Freshly-Picked Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland and Ripened Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love are the most notable of the bunch, and came out on DS many years ago.
Tingle actually could have received another title, but Nintendo and Vanpool pulled the plug. In an interview with Kotaku, Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe revealed:
“Looking back eight years ago, we were developing a horror game with Vanpool that starred Tingle as the main character, but that project was canceled due to a variety of reasons.”
Unfortunately, Tanabe didn’t say anything further about the mystery project. What we do know is that Nintendo and Vanpool kept in touch, with the latter making a prototype for what eventually became Dillon’s Rolling Western

Bethesda was an early supporter of Switch, and that support has continued into this year. Following up on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Doom, Wolfenstein II and Fallout Shelter released not too long ago. The Elder Scrolls: Legends will also arrive later this year.

Nintendo Switch Online is about a month away from its full launch. When that happens, most games on the system will require the paid membership to play via the internet. However, there seems to be a few exceptions: free-to-play titles.
The eShop provides some interesting information here. For a listing like Minecraft, which has online play, the page store has the following notice in the fine print:
“To use online services you must have access to a wireless internet connection. Some online services may not be available in all countries. From the full launch of the Nintendo Switch Online membership service in 2018, online play requires a paid membership.”
On the other hand, these free-to-play games lack that notice:
Paladins
Fortnite
Pokémon Quest
Dawn of the Breakers
Fallout Shelter
Galak-Z: Variant S
Zaccaria Pinball
The Pinball Arcade
Kitten Squad
Pinball FX3
It’s not an official confirmation by any means, but certainly an encouraging sign. Nintendo has said that additional information about Nintendo Switch Online will be shared before launch.
Nintendo has finally revealed how you pronounce NES. Of all places, it comes from WarioWare Gold.
WarioWare Gold has a museum section, and players can unlock some slides showcasing the Famicom. There’s also a picture here with the NES. In the description, Nintendo indicates that NES is pronounced “Ness”.
Morite 'murikaniSee the two characters above NES in the picture above? They read ne-su. There’s no dakuten here, meaning it’s not pronounced ne-zu.
How have you pronounced Nintendo’s classic console? Let us know in the comments below.
