Fresh from defeating Bryan Danielson, Hangman Page declared he needed more wins to his name now that he has the AEW World Championship. Before the champ could really get going though, he was interrupted by Dan Lambert, who put over Page, but criticised him for cheapening the legendary cowboy gimmick. Page fired back telling Lambert he lives this, as Lance Archer made his return to AEW. A frightened Lambert ran from ‘The Murderhawk Monster’ but when it looked like Archer was going to strike he changed course, and crushed Page with a Blackout through a chair.
No matter who comes out on top, it seems like Adam Cole will be waiting in the weeks, as the undefeated Cole opened Dynamite talking about how he and ‘the boys’ are going to have a great 2022. The boys in question though, seemed to be Cole and ReDragon, leading an exasperated Young Bucks to arrive and ask what is going on. Both The Bucks and ReDragon stated they are after the AEW World Tag Team Championships, as Cole tried to calm things, by saying they are the greatest faction in AEW history. Best Friends came out for a fight, but were out matched and outclassed. Kris Statlander squared off with Cole, as Britt Baker came out to make the save, with Cole and Baker sharing a kiss.
In the biggest match of his career, Wardlow took on CM Punk, and after delivering a plethora of powerbombs, ‘Mr. Mayhem’ looked like he was about to do the unthinkable and deliver Punk his first loss in AEW. However, MJF wanted Punk to suffer more, first demanding a powerbomb through the timekeeper’s table, then more powerbombs in the ring. However, MJF’s meddling gave Punk an opening, and the ‘Second City Saint’ got a quick roll-up for the win. MJF berated Wardlow afterwards, and the big man looked ready to snap before Shawn Spears calmed everyone down. Spears will take on Punk next week.
Hikaru Shida and Serena Deeb looked to settle things once and for all, but as Shida made her way to the ring she was ambushed and assaulted by Deeb, who targeted the former AEW Women’s Champion’s left knee. Deeb was relentless, taking the assault to the ring, where somehow the ref agreed to starts the bout. It didn’t last long however, with the ref calling for the bell as Shida was in no fit state.
After defeating Matt Hardy, Penta sent a message to Malakai Black, vowing to show him respect. Cue Black himself who appeared in ring as the lights flickered, beating down Alex Abrahantes and Penta, only for Varsity Blonds to make the save. As the three beat Black down, Julia Hart was telling them they’d gone too far, as Black lay on the mat laughing. The lights went out once more, and when they came back Brody King was standing in the middle of the ring, before laying waste to everything in sight.
In the main event, Guevara and Garcia threw everything at one another. With the interim TNT Championship on the line, both men had everything to gain, with Garcia coming close to a win on several occasions. Eventually Sammy prevailed, taking out an advancing 2point0 before nailing a botched GTH for the win.
