This "Abandoned" thing is really taking off but I have no idea why anyone would believe it. I mean don't get me wrong, Blue Box Studios is definitely trying to imply this, but I don't get why people are falling for it.
First of all, while it's true that Kojima has in the past presented his game announcements as fake-outs, that doesn't mean he would do that every time, and if he WERE to do it, it wouldn't be... like this. Do you really think he'd go through all the effort to do this and then have some employee tweet out "Guess the name it starts with S and ends with L"? Does that really seem on the same level as The Phantom Pain trailer or PT?
Second, this company DOES have a history. They've been around since 2015, they've done some low budget stuff on mobile and steam. Do you really think Hideo Kojima has spent the past half a decade making a bunch of intentionally bad steam and mobile stuff just in case someone looks into the history of a gimmick announcement he might do one day? On top of that, a bunch of the evidence people are using to suggest something is fishy doesn't even line up with the notion that it's Kojima. A dev's PSN was found with a game that doesn't exist? A US dev that has hundreds of hours in Call of Duty? Something tells me that's not Hideo Kojima's PSN guys.
Finally, and most importantly, this whole thing kicked off with a teaser trailer. Did anyone, like, actually watch it? Because nothing in it feels or sounds like Silent Hill. This is the thing that keeps tripping me up. The people always freaking out on twitter or reddit whenever a mysterious horror game pops up that it's "gotta be Silent Hill" and then you click on it and it's like some Five Nights At Freddys bullshit with a dumb shadow clown walking down a hallway. Or in this instance, the dialogue in the trailer is not describing anything remotely related in tone or theme to the Silent Hill series. Maybe very very loosely inspired by some aspects of the MOVIE'S take on religion, but even then that's quite a stretch.
This isn't Silent Hill. This isn't Hideo Kojima."
I still can't get over the fact that people think Hideo Kojima had spent the last five years making asset flip garbage on Steam Greenlight and mobile phones.
The "Death Stranding is Silent Hill" stuff was already insane, this is next level.
