• Rorolina Frixell (Rorona) – Here is a quote from Rorona: “The rebellious age!? Am I not qualified as a mother!? I must not be qualified as a mother! Is that right, Lulua!?”
  
• Chimdragon – A carriage driver who does his job flawlessly. One of the Homunculus Chims, this one has seen huge growth thanks to a certain secret medicine. He calls Lulua “Nano Master” and Piana “Master.”
  
• Fickes Finis – A young man and magician. He participates in battle, seemingly using playing cards as his weapon. Here is a quote from Fickes: “Hahaha! Good for you then, Lulua! It’s not good to ignore your pal!”
  
• Nicodemus David Dieter (Nico) – A sailor once called Nico of the Stormy Sea, this former young pirate is now an adventurer. He also participates in battle.
  
• Alchemy Riddle Book – A book filled with mysterious keywords. By deciphering them, you will get recipes and skills to advance the story. Where you decipher it from is up to you.

Il viso è invariato da più di 20 anni per lei però l'abito...

I tacchi, le calze nere, la gonna da segretaria.

I due maschietti ok. Uno sembra uscito da Sailor Moon. Hanno più stile badass della media proposta da NOCO/Yuugen... però difficile che me li filerò, aspetto il vecchio sgravo classico.

Lionela non l'avrei riconosciuta se non l'avessi saputo. Ha sempre le due mongolfiere ma a parte quello ha un'aria diversa. Non è tra i pg che avrei richiesto però in veste di shop owner può venire qualcosa di interessante. Si intravedono Aranya e Horoholo nell'immagine.

Penso che il combat system sia a 5 pg, con Lulua fissa e gli altri 4 che ruotano in prima-seconda linea.

The lovable mother.

• Occupation: Alchemist
  

An alchemist who possesses some the greatest abilities in Arland. However, since she understands alchemy through her own confusing theory, she is not good at teaching others. Her work moves her from place to place, so she is never around at important times. Her passion for pie has not weakened, and even now she works hard in order to make a more delicious and unusual pie every day.

The shady-looking magician.

• Occupation: Magician
  

A mysterious magician with an easygoing atmosphere. He jokes and tends to talk like someone who speaks in riddles, and people say he looks suspicious. He loves the magic tricks that he does for a living, and not even experts are able to see through his tricks. He is kind to children and the youth, and seems to take a keen interest in Lulua’s growth.

Nicodemus David Dieter (Nico) (voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka)

A former pirate living on land.

• Occupation: (Former) Pirate
  

A sailor who was famous in the Arland region’s sea ports as “Nico, Crosser of the Stormy Seas,” but a “certain someone” destroyed his beloved ship, and he is currently taking on requests as an adventurer while earning repair expenses. He has a lively and rough personality, and is the type who is big‐hearted on one hand, but does not think things through very deeply on the other.

Lionela Heinze (voiced by Kei Shindou)

A versatile entertainer and bar owner

• Occupation: Bar Owner
  

A woman who runs the Arland bar Arahoro Pavilion. She was once a shy and timid person, but after meeting Rorona and traveling all over, she grew to have a sociable personality. She established Arahoro Pavilion to create a place where you can spend time peacefully no matter the circumstances.

Chimdragon (voiced by Yuuko Sanpei)

An all-purpose carriage driver who supports your journey.

• Occupation: Carriage Driver
  

A homunculus “Chim” that grew big thanks to a certain secret medicine. He is currently traveling with Lulua’s teacher Piana. He calls Lulua his “Nano Master.” Lulua travels Arland together with them in their carriage atelier. In addition to the replenishment of tools, Chimdragon does housework and more, and is essential to Lulua’s journey.

■ The Ancient Text that Guides Lulua: Alchemy Riddle

In the “Alchemy Riddle” are letters that can only be read by Lulua. They seem to be about alchemy, and Lulua dreams that she may be able to become a good alchemist if she deciphers the Alchemy Riddle.

Alchemy Riddle and Game Format

In Atelier Lulua, the story will progress as you decipher the Alchemy Riddle, but you will also learn new recipes and skills, and discover new collection places.

However, the still-growing Lulua cannot read and understand everything yet, and some mysterious keywords are still unsolved. In order to decipher everything, Lulua will have to grow through various actions such as collection, battle, and synthesis.

1. Check the Alchemy Riddle!

In the Alchemy Riddle are mysterious keywords written in red text. It is necessary to clarify those keywords in order to read and understand everything.

2. Reveal Keywords Based on Hints!

In revealing keywords, various actions such as collection and battle are essential. Hints as to which actions are good to take are written down in the Alchemy Riddle, so you can rely on it. Each time you reveal a keyword, the Alchemy Riddle will update and you will obtain new information.

Since the reward you will receive upon deciphering is also written in the text, you may also choose which pages to decipher based on the reward. The pace at which you decipher is up to you.

3. Decipher the Alchemy Riddle!

After figuring out all the keywords, you can finally start to decipher the Alchemy Riddle. By deciphering the Alchemy Riddle, the contents of the text will reveal everything that has been shrouded in mystery thus far.

Upon finishing deciphering a page, Lulua will be rewarded with various information essential for her growth, including the next objective to progress the story and new recipes.

A girl who often visits the orphanage, she has an enlightened way of talking that is relative to her age.

A girl who lacks emotion. She is unacquainted with the subtleties of the human spirit.

■ Systems

Synthesis

• The base system where the materials’ characteristics carry over to the resulting item remains in place, while new alchemical element and boost items elements have been added.
  
  
  Alchemical Elements: There are different alchemical elements such as ice and earth, and if the value of a certain element surpasses a certain amount, the resulting item’s effect will change.
  
• Boost Items: A boost item can only be thrown in once during a synthesis. It grants effects to the alchemy ingredients and materials.
  

Battle

• Up to five party members can participate in battle
  
• There is also a mysterious item icon on the face icons of character in battle. Though not confirmed, this may be to use an item even when it is not that character’s turn.

Una serie di nuovi dettagli:

Characters

First off, Sterkenburg “Sterk” Cranach’s artwork and 3D model were revealed. He’s still voiced by Juurouta Kosugi, and in Atelier Lulua he’s the captain of the guards’ corps in Arland. As far as I know he’s supposed to be over 40 years old now, as he was 39 years old in Atelier Meruru. And yet he’s still really handsome and cool.

Two new characters were revealed as well. The first one is Maana, voiced by Yui Kondou. She’s a little girl who lives in the orphanage Eva works at. She has a very mature personality despite her young age. The second one is Stea, voiced by Rie Kugimiya. She’s a girl who shows very few emotions and who doesn’t seem to understand much about other people’s emotions as well.

Alchemy

Ingredient mixing with alchemy was detailed. Each ingredient has a certain element value, like ice or earth, and when mixing ingredients until those element values exceed a certain limit, the effect of the resulting item will change.  There’s also Boost Items, which can only be used once per mix and can enhance the quality of the ingredients.

As for battles, the party is made out of 5 characters, and it seems like items will be usable by characters even when it’s not their turn. This is, however, to be taken with a grain of salt and currently unconfirmed.

Update: Here’s additional information from Famitsu.

When seeing Rorona and Lulua together and how they act, Sterk sometimes jokingly wonders which one is supposed to be the daughter between the two.

Stea, the girl with the blue dress, will meet with Lulua at an “unexpected” place.

The four elements items can have are ice, fire, lightning, and earth. Ice and fire oppose each other. Same with lightning and earth.

Atelier Lulua‘s battle system is inspired from the Mysterious series, as in Atelier Sophie, Atelier Firis and Atelier Lydie & Suelle. The battle system and the possible feature allowing characters to use items when it’s not their turn will be fully explained on January 10.

A swordsman who protects Arland.

A man who was once a knight for the Arland Kingdom. Now, he is the head of the “Defense Corps” who work as guards throughout Arland, and is constantly on the road.

A straight-laced and serious person, Sterk is committed to self-discipline. However, a passion burns deep within his heart and his emotions occasionally slip out.

 


Mana (voiced by Yui Kondou)

The orphanage girl.


A girl who unintentionally ends up frequenting the Arculis orphanage.

In short, she is a girl with the innocence and mischievousness you would expect of someone her age, but who also speaks in a peculiar and meaningful way.

 


Stia (voiced by Rie Kugimiya)

The girl who lacks emotions.

 


Her graceful behavior, from the way that she talks to how she moves, gives off the impression of a girl from a good family.

However, she is not well acquainted with the subtleties of human emotion, and she herself acts in a way that she believes is serious and proper, but she often misses the mark. She happens to meet Lulua in an unexpected place.

 


■ Arland Series-Based Synthesis, Evolved

In Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland, the synthesis system from the Arland series has further evolved. While based on the system of the Arland series, player freedom has increased and new elements have been added. By considering the characteristics of the recipe, the effect of the finished item itself can also change. This is a bit different from the usual synthesis, offering item creation with greater freedom.

Point 01. Arland Series-Based Synthesis

You will be able to perform synthesis by learning recipes from the reference book you obtain as you decipher the “Alchemy Riddle” and progress through the story. While this game’s synthesis system is based on that of the Arland series, including familiar elements like material “quality” and “characteristics,” the “alchemic components” system from the Mysterious series and the new “boost items” system have been added.


Point 02. Utilize Material Characteristics to Create Your Very Own Items

In addition to things like “quality” and “characteristics,” materials also have “alchemic components” such as ice and earth. Considering materials alone is enough if you are only making items and have the materials that fall within that category, but depending on how you utilize the four types of alchemic components, the power and effect of the finished item itself will change. You must carefully analyze your materials if you want to make your dream item.


Point 03. “Boost Items” Significantly Change Alchemic Components

As her alchemy skills grow, Lulua will be able to use “boost items.” These are special items that can be thrown in only once during a synthesis. By throwing in a boost item, the alchemic components can significantly change, and the quality might also increase in a big way. Through this, it is possible to synthesize items with effects and power that cannot be made with the materials on-hand alone.

—Even with the same recipe, if you carefully analyze your materials, use boost items, and the so on, you can add your own flavor to create an item with a different effect.

 


■ Other Systems (More to Come in the Future)

This game fosters the essence of not just the Arland series, but also the Atelier series as a whole, and thus contains the essence of the series. That means it will not only have systems that Arland series fans will enjoy, but also Atelier players in general and new fans alike. More information will be announced in the fututre.

The battle system this time around is based on the well-received combination battle system of Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings. This time around it is even deeper.

Battles even have new, never-before-seen commands…


Not only will you be deciphering the Alchemy Riddle, you will travel the field itself as far as possible to reach and reveal the next gathering grounds. Explore every inch of the field!

Da vicino comunque si vedono occhi abbastanza stanchi anche nel modello 3D di Sterk.

Quindi il sistema di sintesi è un mix tra Arland e Mysterious. Adattano il sistema fedele alla sottoserie senza trascurare il sistema più rifinito proposto.

Mentre il combat system prende spunto da Atelier Lydie&Suelle che non avendo giocato non posso commentare. Dire che prendeva spunto dalla sottoserie di Mysterious non era rassicurante prima, meno male che hanno specificato perchè Sophie nei combattimenti è stato un trauma.
