Anime studio Studio 3Hz (Princess Principal, Flip Flappers, Sword Art Online: Alternative Gun Gale Online) launched a website and a Twitter account on Friday for a new original anime project titled Blackfox.

The website lists Kazuya Nomura (Robotics;Notes, Joker Game, Ghost In The Shell: The New Movie) as director, Naoki Hayashi (Citrus, Flip Flappers) as scriptwriter, and Atsushi Saito (High School Fleet sub-character design) as character designer. Infinite is producing the work.

Blackfox Anime Reveals 2nd Promo Video, Cast, Story, Visuals

The official website for Studio 3Hz's original television anime series Blackfox began streaming a second promotional video for the anime on Friday. The video reveals the show's three main cast members. The site also revealed character designs and descriptions, the show's story, and two more visuals.

Living in a ninja residence tucked away in a corner of a futuristic city is Rikka, the eldest daughter of a Ninja clan, who looks up to her father—a researcher—very much.
Carrying on with her life normally, Rikka's home came suddenly under attack one day. Driven into a corner, what would she do to overcome this crisis?
Rip darkness to pieces and become "BLACK"!

Blackfox Anime Gets Live-Action Tokusatsu Drama Spinoff

Jidaigeki Senmon Channel announced on Wednesday that it is producing a live-action tokusatsu (special effects) period drama titled Blackfox: Age of the Ninja as a tie-in to Studio 3Hz' Blackfox original television anime. The drama will debut this fall. Veteran Kamen Rider and Super Sentai tokusatsu series director and Power Rangers stunt coordinator Koichi Sakamoto is directing the drama, while Naoki Hayashi is writing the screenplay. Hayashi is also in charge of series composition for the anime.

The drama will debut its first trailer on both the official website, as well as the AnimeJapan 2019 event on March 23. The website describes the film as "the world's first project interlocking animation and samurai drama."

The website adds that the drama will have a female leading role, and that while the anime will take place in the near-future starring a descendant of a ninja clan, the live-action drama will take place in the past during the age of ninja and samurai. The site describes the story (edited for clarity):

The era when Samurai and Ninja existed in Japan. Rikka Isurugi was born and raised in a Ninja clan secluded from society. He has met Miya, a girl with a mysterious power, who got lost in the mountains. Despite Rikka being concerned that someone is pursuing Miya, she asks Hyoue Isurugi, the head of Isurugi clan, to avenger her father. Soon after, Rikka faces danger with the attack of the Negoro group but….

The official website for Studio 3Hz's original television anime series Blackfox began streaming a third promotional video for the anime on Saturday. The video reveals and previews the anime's theme song "BLACKFOX" by fripSide, and also reveals new cast, staff, and a visual for the anime.

The anime will have a theatrical premiere this fall.

The new cast members include:
