Outsource :yeahmini:

Just like with Size Matters, Insomniac Games had no involvement with this game with Sony having outsourced it to High Impact Games.

Extra :darth:

In the Playstation Portable version, there are a series of mini-games called Extra Missions. With the exception of Zero Lancer, each character has a mini-game unique to them. For example, Caster's Extra Mission plays similiar to Gradius.

Alien vs. Predator

According to former Capcom artist Katsuya Akitomo, Capcom had plans to port the game to consoles back in the year 2000, but they were shot down by 20th Century Fox, who stated "that was a good game for its time, but that time has passed".

The game wouldn't recieve a release until 2019, thanks to the Capcom Home Arcade unit.

Kirby's Adventure

The game contains graphics for an unused 7th stage door. This suggests there may have originally been plans to have 7 stages in at least one hub, but the largest level hub in the final game only contains 6 stages.

Not a proper cameo

Within the game's files is an arrangement of "Tifa's Theme" from Final Fantasy VII, presumably having been used to test out the game's soundfont before implementing any original music.

Niente Saturn:

Fighting Force

A Sega Saturn version was planned, with Sega of Europe securing publishing rights to the game, but ended up being cancelled at the very end of development. The game was eventually leaked online in 2008.

Only in jap :megahype:

The Japanese release contained the Zodiac Brave Story Sound Novels, a collection of four mini-games in the style of Gamebooks. Because of time and budget constraints, they were never translated and left unused in the non-Japanese versions. This in turn leads to some technically used musical tracks to be Dummied Out of non-Japanese versions as well, though unlike the sound novels, the tracks can at least be listened to in the Sound Test of the PSP version, along with several truly Dummied Out tracks.

Influenze

T9UVi9w.jpeg

The developers looked at a number of MMORPGs such as Phantasy Star Online, Ultima Online, and Final Fantasy XI for inspiration. The prior works of character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion) and scenario writer Kazunori Itō (Ghost in the Shell) were also an influence.

_quando restano troppo tempo sullo schermo;
_quando restano troppo tempo intrappolati sotto un arcobaleno;
_alla comparsa del messaggio Hurry! (a quel punto tutti i nemici diventano automaticamente arrabbiati).

Quel tocco giapponese che non fa mai male:

Shinobi

In a 2003 interview with the game's chief designer Masahiro Kumono published in Shinobi THE WIDE Illustration Archives, he stated him and his team began development in April 2001, and they exhibited the game's first playable demo at E3 2002. At the time, because they were showing the Shinobi game at an overseas trade show, they wanted to focus on the Japanese elements of the visuals to help stand out in an obvious way. For the ninja for instance, they incorporated super-Japanese onigawara into the ninja's leg armor, held on with buckled kumihimo, and joked that it was made of lacquerware. In the initial settings for the game, they tried to incorporate Japanese touches like this everywhere, such as characters in furisode-esque outfits, and the backgrounds would show more element like torii in between city buildings, or traditional Japanese houses with expressways running behind them and so on. Kumono wanted to try and express those juxtaposed "modern/Japanese" elements from every potential angle.

The version of Mother included in the Japanese-only compilation Mother 1+2 for the Game Boy Advance is actually the unreleased U.S prototype translated back into Japanese.

In this game you can be Evil or Good. You can wipe out everyone and burn everything to the ground or you can use your powers to save your allies, even potentially symbolizing the Seven Sins you fought against.

Bubble Buster:

Bust A Move

A prototype exists for a US version of the original Japan-exclusive Puzzle Bobble known as Bubble Buster which removes the Bubble Bobble elements outright, as it was a very common practice for puzzle games at the time. This is somewhat unusual, because no replacement characters were provided, unlike localisations such as Tetris Attack, and Bubble Bobble had already proven itself to be a popular brand in the American market at the time. The logo for Bubble Buster would serve as the basis for the logo of the Neo Geo arcade remake's US release, Bust-A-Move, though that did not remove the Bubble Bobble characters.

Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria was one of four PlayStation 2 titles released that could support 1080i HD, through the use of component cables.

Phantom Hourglass contains a an island called "Dee Ess Island" - an island in the shape of the DS Lite when shown from the sea and an original DS when shown from the island itself. This concept was almost carried forward into a GameCube Island for Wind Waker but was scrapped before making it into the final game.

"Clubbing"
YIWxWaf.jpeg

In addition to its pre-release promotion, Codemasters promoted Overlord through internet based marketing campaigns. The initial announcement of the game humorously focused on a portion of the game referred to as "clubbing baby seals" that was featured in the first screenshots and playable demo.

The Legend of Pikmin:

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

The three goddess statues are actually a reference to Pikmin. The Din statue has a nose like a Red Pikmin, The Faore statue has ears like a Yellow Pikmin, and the Nayru statue has a crack that looks like a mouth, the defining trait of a Blue Pikmin.

If the player character is male and goes to the Rondez-View Ferris Wheel in Nimbasa City in an autumn month, they may battle an NPC named "Nursery Aide Enatsu" (June in English). In the Japanese versions of the game, June is actually a man disguised as a woman in order to secure a job as a Nursery Aide.
