Whilst the first Doom had a shareware demo of its first episode available, Doom II did not. According to John Carmack, this was because people mistakenly consider themselves to have beaten Doom when they had only beaten the shareware episode.

Pac-Man World 2
Through the use of Action Replay codes, it's possible to die on the Level Select map. When this happens, Pac-Man will respawn on the game's title screen; moving around will reveal a stool and fishing rod off-screen, suggesting that he was originally planned to fish on the title screen instead of just standing and playing idle animations.

There were two factors that prevented Seiken Densetsu 3 from being localized back in the mid 1990s. According to former Squaresoft employer Fehdrau, the first was that there were glitches in the Japanese version that wouldn't be able to pass Nintendo of America's certification process. According to Retro Gamer Magazine, the second one was that there was a lot of text. Squaresoft (now Square Enix) declared that fixing these issues for a localization would be too costly on a system that late in its life cycle.

During development, Wolves were meant to have much more complicated behavior. Every new match would have wolves start the game by forming a pack and then wandering across the map, seeking food sources while avoiding towns. Their level of aggression would vary based on their level of hunger. Furthermore, players would be able to hear howling in the background at points, the frequency of which would hint at the threat the wolves posed.

Despite being largely forgotten in favor of its sequels, the original Age of Empires remained popular decades later in Vietnam, due in large part to pirated copies of the game being bundled in Vietnamese computers and a long history of LAN matches dating back to the 1990's. Modern Vietnamese players often use custom rulesets, and top players have earned tens of thousands of dollars in tournaments viewed by audiences as high as the hundreds of thousands. In 2023, this popularity in Vietnam was formally acknowledged by Forgotten Empires, the modern developers of the series, in their "Return of Rome" expansion for Age of Empires II, which ported and updated content from the original Age of Empires to Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. The expansion included a new faction, Lac Viet, "in honor and recognition of ["The Rise of Rome" expansion from the first Age of Empires game's] phenomenal popularity in Vietnam."

Prince of Persia: I Due Troni
During the intro, the Empress will recount the events of the last game, and how they lead to this one. During her narration, she will say "Some believe when the Prince journeyed to the Island of Time to escape death, he returned alone, the amulet destroyed, the Dahaka appeased, the Empress dead. The Prince was free at last. But, this is not how it happened." This line is actually a reference to the bad ending of the previous game, Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within, in which those events occur.

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
According to Jason Rubin, in the Japanese version of the game, a death animation of Crash being crushed and left with his head and feet was replaced. This was because the animation reminded Sony Japan of a serial killer on the loose in Japan who decapitated the victims and left their head with their shoes.
...we would always release a Japanese specific build. Whether it was giving Aku Aku pop up text instructions, or replace a Crash smashing "death" that reminded them of the severed head and shoes left by a serial killer that was loose in Japan during Crash 2's release, we focused on Japan and fought hard for acceptance and success.

Tombi 2
According to game's producer Tokuro Fujiwara, their idea was to combine 2D and 3D graphics for Tomba! 1, but they weren't able to achieve they effect they wanted. They went with 3D for the second game so that they can achieve a greater freedom in expression. Also in Tomba! 2, the graphics may have changed from the first one, but it's system and gameplay were carried over so players wouldn't feel alienated from the first game.
