Mutation

Abilities in this game can "mutate" up to 16 times per skill. This means a simple spell like Fire can randomly mutate during combat to gain unique traits, such as dealing 1,000 flat damage (referencing the famous 1,000 Needles attack) or healing you upon impact

World 3-1's map data includes a Red Koopa Troopa inexplicably placed right above a pit, one space next to a ground tile. Because of its location, the enemy cannot be seen without the use of hacks or glitches, as the Koopa will have fallen into the pit by the time Mario reaches the spot where it spawns in. The enemy's unusual placement resulted in it going undiscovered until November 9, 2020, 34 years after the game's release.

Berserker mode

Player characters now have a chance to enter a 'berserk form' during 7/8 or MAX Solar Noise. Berserk form is a half-demonic state, transforming only a part of their body (typically their arm). Berserk characters are unable to use magic and have severely reduced defenses, but have greatly increased attack power and critical rates, as well as the ability to bypass all resistances to physical attacks. Winning a battle in berserk form will award twice as much karma as normal, making it a high-risk/high-reward scenario.
