In an interview published in the issue of Weekly Famitsu for August 20/27 (and detailed by GamesTalk) with Bandai Namco Entertainment president Nao Udagawa, she revealed an update regarding how Digimon is doing for Bandai Namco.
The Digimon brand and it's various releases over the last few years had lead to it generating profits exceeding when the anime began its run in 2000.
It was noted digital games and card games were doing well, although the statement of profit has to do with the brand as a whole, and not specific to those categories.
This would certainly explain why they're running a Best Of series starting in 2 months, and have already announced another anime for next year, in addition to announcing various things decently early in the past couple years (the Time Stranger expansion, various Card sets being previewed super early, Beatbreak was announced pretty early, Alysion, etc.)
A few specific details aren't clarified such as: the actual period being spoken of, are they only including for Bandai, or aspects of the brand they don't get money for, also, no specific mention of how it compares to that sort of number when the brand had master licensors in the past.
But as always, this type of news bodes very well for Digimon on the whole.
