Finita la campagna di Titanfall 2. La gente fa sempre paragoni impropri con HL2 quando si parla di pacing e varietà non capendo che ciò che rende grande quel gioco non è semplicemente il fatto che ogni capitolo faccia storia a se introducendo nuove meccaniche e variazioni suo tema ma anche che le meccaniche che introduce le sfrutta estensivamente, non per far fare 2 minuti wow e basta. Che è purtroppo il caso della campagna di Titanfall 2. Cavolo hai delle meccaniche così interessanti soprattutto se combinate insieme e le sfrutti così poco, spesso separando il platforming dalla parte shooter per tutta la campagna? Quando potrebbe fare qualcosa di interessantissimo sfruttando quello che il gioco di diverso ha da offrire scade nella coddata. E sono estremamente dispiaciuto perché le basi per fare qualcosa di grande c'erano, però la campagna qui non era il focus e capisco benissimo, ma da come me ne parlavano pensavo che si fossero impegnati più che sul semplice CoD level. Guardate DooM per come si fa un combat che sfrutta in maniera combinata tutte le meccaniche presenti in un FPS.

Finito il secondo giro di Transistor, nulla da aggiungere a quanto già detto se non un punto in più a premiare l'eccellenza di ogni singolo aspetto dell'opera. Arrivato al finale mi sono commosso come la prima volta, e non me lo aspettavo.

Giocato poi Inside, pure lui eccellente e forse pure qualcosa di più. Direzione artistica da brividi, e gameplay perfetto nella sua essenzialità: giocare a Inside è qualcosa di molto simile allo sfogliare un manuale di game design. Stupefacente il modo in cui riesce a dare respiro al mondo narrativo nonostante la propria esasperata linearità, e a trasmettere una suggestione tanto intensa senza mai ricorrere ad una singola parola. Mi ha ricordato Ueda in questo, e in generale ho visto molti inaspettati punti in comune fra le qualità di Inside e quelle di The last guardian: la naturalezza con cui maschera la propria congenita linearità, l'intuitività dei controlli e l'utilizzo coerente della fisica, che assieme permettono un'immersione totale ed inconsapevole nelle regole del gioco; l'intelligente semplicità degli enigmi, il ritmo infallibile, soprattutto la muta e morbosamente affascinante narrativa – solo per citare le più rilevanti. Soprattutto sono due giochi che sanno precisamente ciò che vogliono fare, e lo fanno esattamente: per questo perfezione è una parola che torna spesso alla mente, parlando dell'ultima creazione dei Playdead. Capolavoro.

The vanishing of Ethan Carter è stata una mezza delusione. Troppo elementari i puzzle, la cui logica è pure a dir poco traballante (tanto che credo il gioco sarebbe fluito meglio eliminandoli del tutto) e priva di mordente la vicenda (ancor più alla luce di un finale per me deludente): due difetti difficilmente trascurabili, per chi si dichiara un'esperienza narrativa dai presupposti investigativi. Investigazione fra l'altro annacquatissima, dato che ci sono le belle scritte luminose "ISPEZIONA" che in pratica quando arrivi hanno già risolto il caso per conto loro: se non è "prendere per mano" il giocatore questo... Peccato davvero, credevo nelle ambizioni degli sviluppatori. In ogni caso resta un'esperienza godibilissima della quale ho molto apprezzato la struttura non lineare e in cui mi sono immerso per molte più ore di quanto letto in giro, ottenendo in cambio momenti di intensa suggestione (che brividi nella miniera) ed altri di profonda pace. (Certo che Twin Peaks è proprio un pozzo senza fondo da cui attingere.) Alla fine dei conti era questo ciò che chiedevo, e sebbene sperassi nel salto di qualità non rinnego assolutamente le ore passate a passeggiare per la Red Creek Valley.

Finita la run ad "hard" di Yakuza 0, 63 ore circa, 75% di completamento. Mancano i due capitoli per PS2, ma al confronto con i seguiti per PS3, lo 0 è il migliore.

4 stili di combattimento per ogni personaggio, due "mini"-gestionali che aumentano la longevità e sono divertenti da giocare, un macello di minigiochi (Outrun, Space Harrier, la pesca che non ti fa bestemmiare, la discoteca che fa bestemmiare, le sfide con le macchinine, le "cat fight" etc.), una trama che non scade in milioni di deus ex machina o swervoni per sorprendere il giocatore e le missioni secondarie sono una più folle dell'altra.

La storyline di Majima è molto interessante, visto che si ricollega alla vicenda cardine del 4, con una Sotenbori ancora più protagonista di quanto era nel 5. Mentre visitare Kamurocho senza la Millenium Tower è stato strano. I due protagonisti presi nella loro gioventù differiscono da come siamo stati abituati, Majima meno "Mad Dog" e Kiryu più sbruffone.

Un must buy per i possessori della 4.

È al cento per cento genuina esplorazione platform, un tipo di esperienza che non trovavo da anni: non ci sono grandi scopi o sfide, se lo si gioca è solo per il piacere di farlo. È un gioco piccolo piccolo, ma realizzato con tanto amore che gli si perdonano a cuor leggero i tanti bug sparsi qua e là (giusto qualche rifinitura alle animazioni avrebbe giovato, ma nulla che infici il gameplay vero e proprio). Una boccata d'aria fresca, davvero. Ce ne vorrebbero di più.

Certo avrebbero potuto benissimo intitolarlo Doppiosenso: The game, sono davvero troppi per non essere intenzionali.
