Square Enix Montreal's next-gen Hitman title confirmed cancelled

@re1994

Future Hitman titles to be revealed 'later this year:

The first details on IO Interactive's next-gen Hitman title and Square Enix Montreal's mobile Hitman title will be revealed "later this year", Square Enix has confirmed.
Responding to VideoGamer.com's report yesterday revealing that Square Enix Montreal's next-gen Hitman project had been cancelled, Square Enix told ********* that "IO Interactive is developing a new, AAA Hitman game that will be coming to PC and next-gen consoles.

"Square Enix Montreal is fully focused on mobile development of games some of which are related to the Hitman franchise. We look forward to sharing more details about these titles later this year."

The next core Hitman title had been expected to be developed by Square Enix Montreal, with future titles alternating between SE Montreal and IO Interactive.

However, a note on the LinkedIn profile of senior designer Richard Knight revealed that the game had been canned following Square's decision to shift the studio's focus onto mobile titles. All future AAA Hitman titles will now be led out of series creator IO Interactive.

Reasons for the game's cancellation have yet to be confirmed by Square.

Quindi niente ps360 ?? Absolution l'ho amato, speriamo in un nuovo grande capitolo //content.invisioncic.com/a283374/emoticons/sisi.gif

Se migliorano quanto fatto in Absolution io godo come un riccio.

The Hitman series has taken a hit of its own—Square Enix Montreal will not develop the next Hitman game. The company had revealed possible features for its next project—including first and third-person combat, microtransactions, online leaderboards, and even concept art—but they cancelled production in 2013.

The game gun has been handed back to IO Interactive, developers of the previous series installment Hitman: Absolution. This game was huge success. It featured a detailed world with smelly sewers and beautiful beaches. The game also presented a heart-rending gameplay experience that challenged gamers to develop not only combat skills, but also critical thinking and slow-creeping skills. Players could create missions for online players as well.

So the franchise seems to be in safe hands. According to IO Interactive, “The studio will focus resolutely on the future vision for the Hitman franchise and is in pre-production on a new AAA Hitman project.” The company has zeroed in on Hitman and left Kane and Lynch (its other successful game) behind.

But what exactly does IO Interactive have planned? Right now IO Interactive is crafting Android and iOS versions of the game, but what about the work-in-progress Square Enix had in mind?

IO Interactive could continue to develop where Square Enix left off, or they could create an entirely new Hitman series installment.

Interessante //content.invisioncic.com/a283374/emoticons/sisi.gif L'ultimo capitolo mi è piaciuto parecchio //content.invisioncic.com/a283374/emoticons/250978_ahsisi.gif

An "exciting" Hitman announcement that "fans won't want to miss" is due later today, IO Interactive has teased.
Word of today's announcement was first hinted at by MCV, which tweeted "IO Interactive is updating fans on Hitman today".

Then, IO community manager Travis Barbour revealed that "Even more exciting things are going on @IOInteractive today. Not long at all until some of them are shared!"

He later added: "Keep your eyes on Hitman.com later today for an open letter from @IOInteractive - @Hitman fans won't want to miss it!"

The tease suggests that IO could be preparing to announce its next Hitman title, which is expected to be in development on next-gen consoles.

Last week, VideoGamer.com revealed that Square Enix Montreal's next-gen Hitman title, which had been expected to precede IO's game, had been cancelled.

Square Enix told VideoGamer.com that it could not discuss the details of IO's announcement when contacted earlier today.
