Reorganization of the BANDAI NAMCO Group's Unit System and Appointment of Directors for Major Companies
We would like to announce the reorganization of the BANDAI NAMCO Group's unit structure, which is a collection of operating companies, and the appointment of directors for NAMCO BANDAI Holdings Inc. and its major operating companies from April 2021.
1. Reorganization of the unit system
< Details of the Restructuring >
Prior to the start of the next medium-term plan in April 2022, the Company will reorganize its organization from five units to three units in April 2021.
The "Toys and Hobby Unit" and the "Network Entertainment Unit" will be merged into the "Entertainment Unit".
The "Visual and Music Production Unit" and the "IP Creation Unit" will be merged into the "IP Production Unit".
The "Real Entertainment Unit" will be renamed the "Amusement Unit".
In the Entertainment Unit, NAMCO BANDAI Entertainment Inc. controls the "Digital Business" (network contents, home video games, etc.) and BANDAI Co.
In the IP Producing Unit, NAMCO BANDAI Arts Inc. will control the "Visual and Music Business" (video and music content, live entertainment, etc.), and Sunrise Co., Ltd. will control the "Creation Business" (animation production, etc.) as the respective controlling companies.
The "Amusement Unit" is managed by NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc. as a business controlling company.
<The purpose of the reorganization>
In the Entertainment Unit, by integrating the Digital Business and the Toys and Hobby Business, we will work together and expand our business by mutually utilizing a wide range of outlets with IP as the core. In this way, we aim to improve our competitiveness in the global market.
The IP Produce Unit will consolidate the studio and production functions for IP creation and production, and strengthen the IP creation function for greater variety and synergy not only within the unit, but also through collaboration with other Group businesses and external partners.
In the Amusement Unit, we will select and concentrate on BANDAI NAMCO's unique strengths, such as IP and the use of Group resources, and work to build a strong foundation that will enable us to generate stable earnings by becoming more integrated with the Group's various businesses.

"We said for a number of years that our normal template is to come with either three or four AAA games, so we'll stick to that plan for fiscal 2022," said CFO Frederick Duguet. "But we see that we are progressively, continuously moving from a model that used to be only focused on AAA releases to a model where we have a combination of strong releases from AAA and strong back catalog dynamics, but also complimenting our program of new releases with free-to-play and other premium experiences."
He went on to specify that the company had a number of titles, AAA and otherwise, in the pipeline, naming Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six Quarantine, Skull & Bones, Riders Republic, the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake, and Roller Champions. He also nodded to a previously-announced Assassin's Creed mobile game planned to come to China with the help of Ubisoft investor Tencent, which he said was a part of the company ramping up its investment and interest in free-to-play games, especially on mobile. Mobile currently makes up about 9% of the company's total business.
"In fiscal 2022, we will continue our evolution from a AAA release-centric model toward a model where AAA stands alongside new premium and free-to-play innovative experiences across platforms," Duguet said. "These diverse experiences will feed on each other through complementary gameplay and business models."
