CyberConnect2 is releasing an HD version of the classic .hack//G.U. series.
The news was confirmed by president Matsuyama Hiroshi, who confirmed the news over on his official Twitter account.
While platforms are currently not confirmed, Hiroshi did mention that a promotional campaign would come alongside the HD release, enabling fans to get a special XR Unit in game.
A western release wasn’t confirmed, but Hiroshi pointed out that .hack has sold over seven million units in the west, and that its predecessor has been released in the west – possibly a hint towards a western release?
A trailer for the HD remake was shown internally, depicting characters Haseo and TriEdge fighting each other, although Hiroshi said that it’s been so long since he’s seen the game, there were some characters he doesn’t recognize.
Hiroshi teased fans wanting a sequel to .hack, saying that demand has been so large that CyberConnect2 proper has made a note of this, and they’ve “accepted the wishes” of their fans. Finally, a reveal for the HD remake of .hack//G.U. is coming at this year’s E3.
