The official YouTube channel for the Love Live! anime franchise began streaming a highlight video on Thursday for the Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow film.



The channel also began streaming two insert song preview videos and three new commercials for the film this week.

The film opened in Japan on January 4 and it is an all-new work (as opposed to a compilation or recap film). The film ranked at #8 in its first weekend, and has earned 442,975,500 yen (about US$4.03 million) as of January 13.

Love Live! Group μ's Reunites for Love Live! Fes in January

The "Love Live! Series 9-Shūnen Happyōka" (9th Anniversary Presentation) event revealed on Thursday that the members of the Love Live! idol unit μ's will reunite Love Live! Fes event in January. The event will be the franchise's first festival, and it will be held at Saitama Super Arena from January 18 to 19, 2020. The franchise's idol groups Aquors, Saint Snow, and Nijigasaki Academy's Idol Appreciation Club appeared during the presentation, and they will also appear at the January event.

The anime's official website also began streaming a promotional video for the ninth anniversary and a video of the presentation, which streamed live.





The January event will mark the reunion of the μ's members after about three years and nine months. Tickets to apply for the festival's advance ticket lottery will bundle with three upcoming home video releases for the franchise.

Love Live! School Idol Franchise Gets New TV Anime With New Cast Member

The official website for the Love Live! franchise announced on Tuesday that the school idol franchise will have a new television anime. It features the tagline, "Watashi o Kanaeru Monogatari — Hello!!! Love Live!" (The story of my dreams coming true. Hello!!! Love Live!"). This is a reference to the franchise's previous tagline of "Minna de Kanaeru Monogatari," which refers to the fact that the school idol group's names, center performers, song lyrics, and other aspects are decided by fan vote.

In addition, the franchise will start open casting call auditions for one of the main cast members of the new project on March 12. The auditions are restricted to unmarried women from the ages of 15 to 22 (as of April 1, 2020). The auditions will not accept applications from those currently in middle school or lower, and those with existing contracts with record companies or talent management agencies.

The Love Live! Fes event previously announced earlier this month that the franchise is launching a new project. Kadokawa's Love Live! Days Love Live! Sōgō Magazine Vol. 05 issue will provide more details on Thursday.

Hajime Yatate, the collective pseudonym for the staff of Sunrise, is once again credited for original work. Sakurako Kimino is also credited again for original concept, as in previous Love Live! anime. Tomoyuki Kawamura (Good Luck Girl!, Mitsuboshi Colors, Kamigami no Asobi - Ludere deorum) is directing the anime at Sunrise. Jin Tanaka (Laid-Back Camp, Kirakira ☆ Precure a la Mode, Cinderella Nine) is in charge of the series scripts. Takumi Yokota (Pupipō!, Mitsuboshi Colors) is designing the characters.

Bandai Namco Entertainment, Love Live! Events Canceled Due to COVID-19 Coronavirus Concerns

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced on Wednesday that it is canceling or changing its sponsored events until March 15 due to concerns over the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. The affected events include those for Tekken 7, The IDOLM@STER, Sword Art Online, Tales of Vesperia, and Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2. The staff of the Love Live! franchise separately announced that they are canceling the "Aqours Back In First Love Live! ~Step! ZERO to ONE~" concerts on March 1 and the "LOVE LIVE! SUNSHINE!! UNIT LIVE ADVENTURE 2020 AZALEA First LOVE LIVE! ~Amazing Travel DNA~" concerts on March 7 and 8.

The organizers of the "Perfume 8th Tour 2020 'P Cubed' in Dome" concerts announced on Wednesday that they have canceled the Tokyo Dome concert that would have happened on the same day, due to COVID-19. The "EXILE PERFECT LIVE 2001→2020" organizers also announced that they canceled Wednesday's concert at Osaka's Kyocera Dome for the same reason. Voice actress Yukari Tamura's "Birthday Event 2020" already planned to forbid attendees from doing call-and-response (audience responses during specific sections of a song) during Tamura's performance on Thursday, but the organizers have since announced that they canceled the event outright.

Concerns over the virus have led to the cancellation or postponement of numerous events in Japan, as well as Japanese companies announcing their absence in overseas events, conventions, and trade shows. Osaka's Nippombashi Street Festa cosplay event will not be held on March 15 due to similar concerns. Sony Interactive Entertainment, Bushiroad, Square Enix, and other companies have announced their absences from different events abroad. Bushiroad previously announced last week that it has canceled its AnimeJapan 2020 attendance.

The official website for the Love Live! School Idol Festival and Love Live! School Idol Festival All Stars smartphone games announced on Wednesday that the organizers for the games' planned "Kanshasai 2020" (Fan Appreciation 2020) event have canceled the event due to concerns over the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The games will instead have a live stream event during the event's previously scheduled dates of April 11 and 12. Additionally, the organizers are considering an alternate event, and will announce details on the website and social media once it has been decided.

Sunrise filed to register a "Love Live! Superstar!!" trademark on June 16. The filing was made public on June 30.

The Love Live! franchise has an upcoming new television anime that does not yet have an official title. A livestream event to commemorate the third anniversary of the The IDOLM@STER Million Live! Theater Days smartphone game announced on Saturday that Bandai Namco Entertainment's The IDOLM@STER Million Live! smartphone and browser game is inspiring a television anime adaptation.

The official website for the Love Live! franchise's new television anime confirmed the project's Love Live! Superstar!! title on Tuesday . Sunrise filed to register a trademark for the name last month. In addition, Kadokawa's Love Live! Days Love Live! Sōgō Magazine Vol. 08 magazine will launch a vote when it ships on Wednesday for the name of the anime's idol group, as well as the logo of the story setting's Yuigaoka Girls High School.

Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Anime's Video Reveals October 3 Premiere

The "Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club 2nd Live! Brand New Story" concert debuted a new promotional video on Saturday. The video confirmed that the Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Dōkōkai (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club) anime will premiere on October 3.

The series will premiere on the Tokyo MX channel as well as on the Bandai Channel, Line Live, and YouTube Live streaming services on October 3 at 10:30 p.m. (9:30 a.m. EDT). It will also run on Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, BS11, TV Aichi, Shizuoka Asahi TV, TV Hokkaido, and TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting Co., Ltd.

The anime's opening theme song will go on sale on October 21, and the anime's ending theme song will go on sale on November 4. The official website for the anime's mail order service will open in October, and a special will air and stream before the anime starts on September 27.

The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) announced on Friday that the Love Live! Sunshine!!'s idol group Aqours' "Fantastic Departure!," the theme song for the Love Live! Sunshine!! Aqours 6th LoveLive! DOME TOUR 2020 event, has been downloaded more than 100,000 times to earn a single gold certification. The single launched on July 22 after a delay from May 20 due to the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Love Live! Superstar!! Anime Reveals Idol Group's Name: 'Liella'

The official Twitter account for Love Live! Superstar!!, the Love Live! franchise's new television anime, announced on Wednesday that the new group's unit name in the story will be "Liella." As with previous group names in the franchise, the name was sent in by fans and was one among 16 possible names that fans voted for.

The fan "Tora-san" sent in the unit name, and explained that the name is a combination of the French words "lier" (to attach, connect, join) and "brillante" (inner brilliance), with "lier" coming from the unit's in-story school of Yuigaoka Girls High School (the kanji used for "yui" in the school name also means "to connect"). Tora-san further explained that it conveys the unit's inner brilliance even though they are still a "small star," and they must connect with each other's star to become superstars.

The announcement noted that Date and Aoyama are the winners of the franchise's first open auditions.
