Dopo Nier Automata, nuovo gioco con Taro e Kamiya (ubriachi).Perhaps the greatest thing to come out of the collaboration between Square Enix and Platinum is how Taro and Kamiya are now drinking buddies. 'I like drinking with him around the office,' he says. 'There's quite a lot of dirty conversation going on.'
Rimangono le speranze per i remaster //content.invisioncic.com/a283374/emoticons/sisi.gif(I was going to post this on the other blog post but well)
More stuff from a french interview :
- They didn't know what made
NiER's first ost so popular and did not expect it but he'll be doing
his best. Apparently Emi Evans is not returning (THIS MIGHT BE A GIANT
MISUNDERSTANDING because the question was asked weirdly in japanese)
because they kinda wanted to cut bridges with the first game.
-
M. Taura (game planner at Platinum) has a ton of respect for
Drakengard/Nier and the game won't be focused solely on action like MGR
did for instance, Yoko Taro moved from Tokyo to Osaka to live in the
platinum studios to take care that Automata will be 100% true to the
soul of Nier, he was the first
-Yoko Taro admitted himself that
the trailer might be a bit misleading, the game will certainly not be
action only and will have "adventure" phases between two fights :
puzzles, exploration, talking to npcs, story/plot progression... The pod
(the flying robot) will play a role in these parts since it can help
you jump higher, glide etc... (It also can talk butwill be a minor
character unlike Grimoire Weiss)
-The first prototype build was
submitted in july 2014, as a test to see if Platinum would be fitting
for this game (to be assured it is still a Taro-esque game) and he was
fully convinced with it.
-The pod will be more or less of
"tracking system like in cars" (this is an analogy the translator used
I'm sorry) he won't talk as much as Weiss, but will be important since
every ranged attacks will be taken care of by him (as well as switching
weapons)
-Nier Automata will have the same kind of "unbalance"
between fun and sadness (like we had Weiss joking during sad moments
etc), but Yoko Taro doesn't like doing the same thing twice, so this
unbalance will be "unexpected"
-They don't want to officially
announce it to avoid disappointement but a demo of Automata IS in their
planning/schedule, so if everything goes smoothly this is something to
look forward to ( \o/ ). By the way, they are dedicated to automata right now so NO remaster/remake/hd release is planned right now, they'll only think about it after Automata's release (which is fine imo since it's its own game, they have to judge interest in the second game to think about it especially since the first game didn't sell well).
-About the eyepatch-thing : they are glasses where information is displayed, As for why we can't see her eyes, it's an important point. "Please buy the game". She'll have them from the beginning of the game. About the Emil reference : absolutely nothing in common.
-"It's 4 times as hot in my mask as you think" Yoko funnily whinned
-Still only in developpement for Playstation 4
-About the weapons not touching her : magnetic fields and stuff, she can throw them.
And that's about it I might have missed some stuff but nothing major.

Square Enix recently revealed some of the latest on NieR: Automata, and director Taro Yoko and producer Yosuke Saito shared more details on the upcoming PlayStation 4 action RPG in interviews with Famitsu and Dengeki. [Thanks, Game Jouhou.]
Q: How many protagonists are there?
Saito: “By ‘actual protagonists’ then two characters.”
Yoko: “I kind of feel like there are three.”
Q: What is 2B’s gender?
Saito: “a girl… type?”
Yoko: “It’s a secret.”
Q: Why did you guys make her a female?
Yoko: “Because I like girls.”
“Akihiko Yoshida asked for ‘a costume that’d be easy to cosplay’.”
Q: Are there androids of other genders?
Yoko: “The genders are a secret, but there are ‘girl/boy-types.”
Q: What’s the meaning behind “YoRHa?” Yoko: “Nothing in particular. Its kanji is ‘寄葉’but it’s nothing of deep significance.”
The androids are the ones fighting in order to recapture Earth, but the humans don’t participate in the actual fighting itself.
There are plenty of weapons that we’ve yet to see. Q: About how many? Yoko: “Quite a lot.”
The “Pods” will help with ranged attacks while the player can focus on close-ranged attacks. Again, you’ll be able to use it to glide and also for getting your way across the maps. The Pod can speak, but it isn’t much of a chatterbox, so think of it as more of navigational system for cars. It does not have any emotions.
There are ideas for Pod customizations, but they’re not sure how it’ll end up.
There are possibilities of DLC costumes for 2B.
2B’s skirt will begin to break after she takes a certain amount of damage. Beneath the skirt she wears a white leotard.
The base of the Living Machines are the same but they’ll come in varieties of parts, colors, texture, and ones that ride on different obstacles.
The giant Living Machine shown in the trailer isn’t a boss, but a ‘kind of strong small-fry.” That one was relatively on the smaller side, but you’ll see some gigantic Living Machines.
Q: There was something like a warthog, but will we get to ride it?
Yoko: “I’ve told the folks at PlatinumGames that I’d like for people to be able to ride them.”
There’s also a living creature that is similar to a deer, and there’s a chance that you’ll be able to ride it, too.
The game takes place in the same world in a different era, but story-wise they’re not connected much. They wanted to prevent having things that only those who played the first game would be able to enjoy. If anything, there will be characters or events that will bring a smile to those who are familiar with them.
Yoko: “PlatinumGames’ action might seem a little high-end, but they’re working on adjusting it so that just about anyone can enjoy it and feel that they can play it.”
Saito: “When looking at Yoko-san’s plot, it has some very happy ending-like content. On the contrary, the story is so good to the point where you’d like to ask him ‘is it okay for it to be this much of a happy ending?’ I really hope you look forward to that.”
Yoko: “The development is going favorably, but there’s so much to it that we don’t know what will happen.” Saito: “We’re entrusting the young development team’s passionate ‘we can do this!’ attitude, so us older folks are excited. And also praying for nothing to go wrong. Yoko: “Although if it does go wrong somewhere, I think it’d still be NieR-like in its own way. It wouldn’t be bad to have a NieR that will makew you go ‘Huh!” It ends here!?’”
The next update of information will be sometime around this spring. They’re hoping to be able to make some announcements in Japan next time.

Combining Platinum Games and Square Enix is like having a dream team, especially adding the character design of Akihiko Yoshida.
The coherence of the world between NieR and NieR: Automata is guaranteed by the work of Taro Yoko himself. The fans of the previous NieR won’t be disappointed or feel betrayed.
The game is benefiting form the experience of PlatinumGames in action games, and from Akihiko Yoshida’s very personal art style. Saito-san feels the combination of those factors can result in a great game.
Square Enix didn’t expect such a strong positive hype about the franchise. People keep buying the original soundtrack CD for the first game, talking about the story and they really like the world.
At the beginning they wanted to name the game NieR: Androids, but there were trademark problems and “Androids” sounded too simple anyway.
The first prototype for the game was completed on July 2014.
A lot of attention was paid to the criticism received by the first game. Saito-san’s work at the producer is to assemble the best team to make the best game possible. According to him, with the team they have the game, is going to be great.
Saito-san remembers that many foreign reviews of NieR mentioned that the graphics weren’t very good, but they weren’t able to stop playing, and that’s one the game’s trademarks.
When PlatinumGames developed the prototype of NieR: Automata, it was also a test to see if Taro Yoko was compatible with Platinum, and it went very well. They also discovered that PlatinumGames has a lot of respect for the director, and there is no problem in them working together.
In order for the game to be made, Yoko-san decided to live in Osaka (he normally lives in Tokyo), where PlatinumGames is located. He’s there to guarantee that the game remains faithful to the original game. NieR: Automata is going to be very faithful to the franchise’s universe because the same person is in charge.
When Taro Yoko joined the team, he was the first one to ask himself if the game would become just an action game, but when he went to Platinum, he met Chief Planner Takahisa Taura, and he noticed that he had a lot of respect for the previous NieR. His ambition is to create a new NieR while keeping what made the first game unique.
The story about NieR: Automata being originally a mobile game is just a rumor without any solid ground. A long time ago Taro Yoko considered a NieR adaptation for PlaySytation Vita, and that might be where the rumor came from, but it had nothing to do with NieR: Automata, and the project was canceled. There’s no NieR project for mobile.
Emi Evans (that provided vocals and lyrics for the original NieR) isn’t working on the game.
Composer Keiichi Okabe and Taro Yoko didn’t expect the original soundtrack for NieR to be this popular, and they don’t even know exactly the reason why, so they can’t guarantee that they will repeat the same miracle, but Yoko-san is sure that he’ll do his best.
Saito-san mentioned that as a producer his directive was for the music to remind of the previous NieR so that the fans of the previous game could enjoy it.
In some levels there are places you won’t be able to reach with normal jumps, so you’ll have to use your gliding drone “Pod” in order to reach them.
Between combat phases there will be exploration phases, and contrary to what the trailer might make you think, there won’t be only action. On top of the action, there will be adventure, dialogue with characters, puzzle solving and story progression.
The Pod flies around you, but he won’t behave like the Grimoire Weiss. It won’t talk all the time and behave more like a car’s GPS. That said, he’s not just going to be an accessory.
You can switch between weapons very easily, and also between close combat weapons and ranged weapons. The ranged weapons are all stored inside Pod.
The gap between the dark universe and comedic elements is what makes NieR unique, and Yoko-san wants fans to feel it again in NieR: Automata. That said, he doesn’t like to do exactly the same thing twice, so that kind of unbalance is going to appear in an unexpected way.
For now the team is giving its all on NieR: Automata, so they’ll think about possible remasters of NieR after the release of the new game.
Saito-san cannot promise that the game will have a demo, because he wouldn’t want to disappoint people, but it’s something they’ll consider in their planning, so there might be one if no problem arises.
What looks like a bandage on YoRHa 2B’s eyes is actually not a bandage, but special glasses that display information for her. The glasses are part of her equipment right from the beginning of the game.
The reason why you can’t see her eyes is a very important part of the story, so Yoko-san can’t reveal it. Saito-san mentioned that it has nothing to do with Emil’s petrifying gaze from NieR.
Yoko-san mentioned that his iconic mask is four times hotter than what you’d imagine.
It was confirmed that the game is only in development on PS4.
The fact that YoRHa 2B’s weapons don’t touch her back but just float behind her has a very peculiar reason. Her swords have their own magnetic fields, and that’s important in the gameplay. They can be used as swords, but also thrown like shuriken.
