NCsoft is developing a new game utilizing the IP of Sony's flagship game franchise 'Horizon'. NC and Sony are promoting IP (intellectual property) collaboration to target the global game market, and the collaboration between the two companies is finally completed, drawing attention to whether NC will succeed in targeting the global market by removing its focus on 'Lineage' IP.

On the 8th, a source familiar with Sony and NC said, "NC and NC have tentatively agreed to promote a business partnership to create a new game using Sony's promising game IP. NCsoft's internal development team is making it," he said

The source said, "After starting game development, discussions are underway in the form of 'pre-development and post-negotiation' in which the two companies discuss collaboration and business partnership. There is a possibility that it will lead to a comprehensive partnership such as development," he added.

Some info on the dev team

It has been confirmed that the 'H' seed development team under the Lineage IP Business Headquarters is developing a new 'Horizon' IP within NCsoft. H Seed is recruiting developers to participate in the project through job postings. As the partnership with Sony has not yet been confirmed as an 'official', job announcements are made in the form of 'Project H developer recruitment'.

A 'seed' is an organizational unit attached to the development team in the early stages of production at NC. When production is on a certain track, it is promoted to 'Camp', and support such as hiring of human resources is provided in earnest on the premise that the game is released.

The game is now essentially confirmed to be in development, as an NCSoft employee posted a job listing on LinkedIn with a codename logo stylized similarly to the logo of Horizon games.

- It's developed under the codename Project Skyline, with the initial codename being Project H

- PC and Mobile

- Unreal Engine 5

- It is expected to launch significantly later than Aion 2, which is anticipated to be released in 2024/2025

- The project is developed in Sung-Gu Lee's 'Lineage IP division' and is led by Hong-Young Choi who previously was head of Lineage W development

- The project started around 2021, according to a former NCSoft employee's resumes on LinkedIn and Facebook

- Around 140 people worked on the project in September 2023

- This is a very significant number, comparable to other more advanced and already announced projects, such as Lineage M (136) and Lineage W (147)

- As I have previously reported, NCSoft registered a domain for what appears to be a game titled 'Land of Salvation'. 'Land of Salvation' could POTENTIALLY be an official title for the Horizon MMO. This assumption is based on the fact that it is the only unannounced game we know of that could be revealed soon. Of course, it could be some other project we are not aware of

It is understood that some of NCsoft's new games and live games have received a notice of decision to stop development or service as a result of a feasibility review. Games under CBO Lee Seong-gu, including "Pantera," "H," and "J," are reportedly included in the list, raising questions about whether development of "Pantera," also known as "Raise Lineage M," will actually be halted.

According to an interview with MTN on the 13th, members of the undisclosed new product development team, including 'Pantera,' 'H,' and 'J' under the CBO of NC Lee Sung-koo, were notified to stop development. Of these, 'H' and 'J' have already disappeared from the company's organizational chart.

The decision to stop development of 'Pantera,' 'H,' and 'J' was made at the end of last year, and at the beginning of the year, the development team members were reportedly notified to prepare for internal transfers. In the case of 'H', it is reported that the team will be transferred to Lineage's IP headquarters after the development office is disbanded.

I GaaS non ve li leverete mai, e da un POV aziendale ne capisco anche il motivo.
Piuttosto auguriamoci una miglior gestione dei first e una maggiore lungimiranza nel capire a chi affidare certi progetti.
