■ What is Shining Resonance?Shining Resonance is a fantasy RPG released for PlayStation 3 in December 2014 that depicts a battle over the power of a lost dragon, with the protagonist Yuma being a young man who possesses the forms of both a human and dragon.

Fighting against the Imperial army, dragon knight princess, and a dragon slayer aiming for the power possessed by Yuma are the “Dragoners,” who wield instruments called “Harmonics” as weapons that play magical music. Changing the power of the dragon into magical songs, the Dragoners will confront powerful enemies alongside Yuma.

■ The Newly Added “Refrain Mode”

In addition to “Original Mode,” through which you can experience the story from the PlayStation 3 version of Shining Resonance in full high-definition at 60 frames per second, a new “Refrain Mode” has been added, which depicts a what-if story with Excela Noa Aura and Jenius Aeon, who did not become party members in the main story.

In Refrain Mode, you can enjoy an adventure with Excela and Jenius from the beginning that should not exist in the original story, as well carry out night events and dates.

Continuing from “Niji no Senritsu,” the theme song of the original version, a newly recorded theme song called “Towairo no Aria” sung by Kirika Towa Alma (voiced by Saori Hayami) and Sonia Blanche (voiced by Asami Seto) is included.

This theme song is the new opening song by Elements Garden, who also made the music from the original version. Of course, “Niji no Senritsu,” the theme song from the original version, is also included at higher resolution.

■ Even More Enhancements

In response to feedback from the original version, Shining Resonance Re:frain adds even further enhancements that make the game easier to play.

I Can’t Defeat Trishula at the End of Chapter 1!

Trishula is the last boss of the first chapter, who appears alongside Excela. Although it can be defeated by mastering the use of Guard Breaks, many players were not accustomed to the action since it was only the beginning of the game, and the boss battle became a high hurdle to overcome.

In Shining Resonance Re:frain, the difficulty level of the battle has been adjusted so that Trishula can be defeated smoothly through normal play, and more quickly through the use of Guard Breaks.

For Users Who Did Not Train Agnam Bulletheart and Lesty Sera Alma

At a certain point, the party will split into two groups. Many users who did not train Agnum and Lesty by that point faced difficulty defeating the boss. The game has been adjusted so that you can restart from before the event, even if you lose the battle.

Rinna Mayfield’s Tendency to Charge at the Enemy Without Using Force

Although Rinna Mayfield specializes in the use of Force as an elementalist, she would often attack at close range, leading people to tearfully put her in the reserve party. In Shining Resonance Re:frain, Rinna’s AI has been readjusted, so you can now add her to the party with peace of mind.

Request Rewards and Clear Status

When receiving a request, the window will display the rewards for clearing the request, as well as whether or not the quest has been cleared. Polish has been applied to make clearing all of the quests in the city of Marga, as well as side activities, easier to play.

Function to Turn Fromage Off

Fromage is the mascot character that accompanies Rinna. She is a reliable companion that acts as a navigator in battle, but there are also times when a serious scene is playing out that she might not be suited for… Users who are bothered by this will have the option to turn Fromage off in the options screen.

We get to see artwork for all the members of the main cast, and a further look at the Refrain Mode that will allow us to deepen our relationship with Excela Noa Aura and Jenius Aeon.
On top of that, more screenshots show the action battles topped by the D-Tune system. We’ll be able to freely control a member of the party with combos, unique special attacks, and magic.

The hero Yuma can also change into a dragon at any time during combat, but if he strains his limits he can lose control of his powers, and go berserk.

Kirika can use the Sacred Song changing into a variety of costumes appropriate to each song, she will then keep them on for the rest of the battle.

The BAND system lets you select a member of the party as the “center” of your group. When using the sacred song after the BPM gauge grows, the effect will vary according to who is the center.

We also see the relationship diagram, that displays how close each character is depending on their personality. The longer they’re together, the deeper that relationship grows. This influences the “resonance” attacks that will occur randomly during battle, allowing characters to support each other.
