Liz and the Blue Bird Film's Music Trailer, Short Videos Streamed

Kyoto Animation began streaming a music promotional video and six short promotional videos over the past four days for for Liz to Aoitori (Liz und ein Blauer Vogel or Liz and the Blue Bird), the first of two planned all-new anime films for the Sound! Euphonium franchise. The music promotional video previews the film's theme song "Songbirds" by Homecomings.

Sound! Euphonium Chikai no Finale Anime Film Opens in Spring 2019

The official Twitter account for the Sound! Euphonium franchise announced on Sunday that the second planned new film in the franchise is titled Gekijōban Hibike! Euphonium: Chikai no Finale (Sound! Euphonium The Movie: Oath's Finale), and it will open in Japan in spring 2019. The staff also revealed a key visual, which features the tagline "Is your tuning OK, sempai?"

The official website for Kyoto Animation's Sound! Euphonium franchise began streaming a teaser video on Friday for Gekijōban Hibike! Euphonium: Chikai no Finale (Sound! Euphonium The Movie: Oath's Finale), the second of two planned new films in the franchise. The video reveals the film's April 19 opening, and highlights the protagonist Kumiko, and her new underclassman and fellow euphonist, Kanade Hisaishi.

Sound! Euphonium Series Gets 2 New Novels About Kumiko's 3rd Year

Author Ayano Takeda announced on Thursday that she is penning two new novels for her Sound! Euphonium novel series. The two novels, collectively titled Hibike! Euphonium - Kitauji Suisōgaku-bu, Ketsui no Saishū Gakushō (Sound! Euphonium - The Kitauji Concert Band's Decisive Final Movement), are slated for April and May next year. The novels will cover protagonist Kumiko Ōmae's third and final year of high school.

The official website for Kyoto Animation's Sound! Euphonium franchise began streaming a trailer on Friday for Gekijōban Hibike! Euphonium: Chikai no Finale (Sound! Euphonium The Movie: Oath's Finale), the second of two planned new films in the franchise. The video introduces the four cast members for the new first-year students, and the year's goal: to win first place at nationals.

The official website also revealed on Wednesday that TRUE will perform the film's theme song. The movie will open in Japan on April 19.

Euphonium The Movie: Oath's Finale), the second of two planned new films in the franchise, on Wednesday. The video features more footage from the film, and features excerpts from the first and fourth movements of the "Liz and the Blue Bird" piece, the in-story piece that featured prominently in the previous Liz and the Blue Bird film.



 
Sound! Euphonium: Oath's Finale Film's 4 Videos Highlight Characters

The official website for Kyoto Animation's Sound! Euphonium franchise began streaming four new promotional videos for Gekijōban Hibike! Euphonium: Chikai no Finale (Sound! Euphonium: Oath's Finale), the second of two new films in the franchise, last week. The videos center on various members of the Kitauji High School concert band.

The first video centers on Kanade Hisaishi, a new first-year euphonium player who has a secret side to her always-polite demeanor.



The second video centers on Reina Kōsaka, a trumpet player and central character from the previous anime installments, who holds high ambitions, and shares a special relationship with protagonist Kumiko Ōmae.



The third video shows the band's various activities in rehearsals and marching practice.



The fourth video teases the development of the relationship between Kumiko and her childhood friend and neighbor Shūichi Tsukamoto.



The movie opened in Japan on April 19

 
Sound! Euphonium Franchise Gets Spinoff Novel Focusing on Natsuki

Publisher Takarajimasha announced on Friday that it will publish a new spinoff novel for Ayano Takeda's Sound! Euphonium franchise on February 13. Takeda is again writing the novel and Nikki Asada is again providing the illustrations. The spinoff, titled Tobitatsu Kimi no Se wo Miageru (Looking Up at Your Back as You Leap Up) will feature Natsuki Nakagawa as the protagonist. Takarajimasha posted a preview for the novel that states, "I am Natsuki Nakagawa, third year student at Kitauji High School. Today I am retiring from the concert band." The novel will also look at the students Nozomi Kasaki, Misore Yoroizuka, and Yūko Yoshikawa from Natsuki's point of view.

Takarajimasha and Asada also each posted an illustration on Twitter on Friday to commemorate the announcement.

Kyoto Animation had announced in June 2019 that the studio had greenlit an anime project that will center on Kumiko's third year in high school. The event did not announce a format for the project.
