Don’t Worry, tri-Ace Will Keep Making Games For Consoles

Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile developers tri-Ace recently got bought out by mobile company called Nepro Japan, and while they will help their new parent company on smartphone games, they’ll continue to make games for consoles, too. Nepro Japan’s press release shares more on their future plans.

As previously reported, Nepro Japan aim to become the best group of game creators in terms of scale and quality with both tri-Ace and their other subsidiary company, Mobile & Game Studio, at their side.

Becoming the best group of game creators is their ultimate goal; however, they’ve split it up into four different objectives. First, is to become a group of creators with a high satisfaction rate for all their customers (both, players and publishers).

Their second objective to become a group that pioneers in new technology development. Thirdly, is to become a group that gathers and raises talented individuals, which they feel that tri-Ace’s acquisition was one of the first steps to the right direction in that regard.

Finally, their fourth objective is to become the number one group when it comes to its scale and profits. With both tri-Ace and Mobile & Game Studio as the two main companies they have in Nepro Japan’s game development group, they shared a chart explaining what their plans are for the two companies.

Here’s a look at what they have planned for the two Companies going forward:

As you can see from the chart, tri-Ace specialize at development in console games, and Mobile & Game Studio have experience in the arcade games development field, having worked on titles such as Lord of Vermilion 3. With both companies expected to maintain and strengthen what they’ve been doing up until now, tri-Ace can still be an outsource studio for console titles.

(If you’re wondering just what console games tri-Ace has been involved with, they’ve been assisting Square with the development of the Final Fantasy XIII series in various capacities.)

However, Nepro Japan also aim to have the two companies strengthen their development in mobile titles, to take on the challenging market of smartphone games.

Square Enix president teases JRPG surprise for fiscal 2015:

Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda teased a “considerable amount of high-end games” for the company’s fiscal 2015, including a Japanese RPG “surprise.”
“For fiscal 2015, I think we have a considerable amount of high-end games both inside and outside the country,” Matsuda told Nikkei Trendy. “Starting with Final Fantasy XV, we’ll be putting out news for Japanese RPGs.”

Matsuda continued, “I think we’ll have a little surprise, too,” before clarifying he’s referring to “a JRPG for home game machine(s).”

Square Enix’s personal resolution for fiscal year 2015, according to Matsuda, is “a box of surprises.” This apparently refers to how well the company can deliver in terms of releasing surprising and interesting works.

“With respect to HD titles for 2015, our Japanese and Western studios are both bolstering their lineups considerably, so it’d be wise to keep an eye on them,” Matsuda concluded.
