Secrets:

  1. From the level start, head south into the blood-floored area. Go through the opening on the right, go up the stairs, and run across the gap to get the rocket launcher. Ahead of you is a bridge crossing another bloody pit. On the other side is a blood-splattered wood-panel wall in the corner. Open this wall to reveal a secret teleporter that takes you to an otherwise unreachable area.
  2. From the ledge you were taken to in secret #1, you can see a metal "well" just below in the blood pool. Drop into it to get the soul sphere inside.
  3. Return to the bridge from secret #1. This time, drop off the west side. You can lower the bloodfalls here like a lift, which will reveal another teleporter to a secret area.

Secrets:

  1. Near the beginning of the level, you will cross a gated bridge with a super shotgun on it. At the far end of this bridge is a short wall with a yellow lightning-bolt symbol on it. Open it to reveal a switch in an alcove (you must actually walk into the alcove for the secret to register).
  2. Flipping the switch in secret #1 causes a wall to open back on the other side of the bridge. Behind it is a crescent-shaped ledge with a box of rockets.
  3. Inside secret #2 is a "stairway" of pillars leading up to a megasphere. The first "step" counts as a secret...
  4. ...as does the second...
  5. ...and third...
  6. ...and fourth...
  7. ...and fifth...
  8. ...and sixth. Oddly enough, the ledge with the megasphere does not count as a secret itself.
  9. In the center of the level is a "T"-shaped walkway crossing a pool of blood. Drop into the blood north of the walkway. To the left is an alcove with a teleporter in it; step into it. You'll arrive on a ledge with a soul sphere, backpack and plasma rifle, but instead of getting those items, remain on the teleporter pad you're on. Do a 180 and open the lightning-bolt wall. It leads to a secret path lined with health bonuses.
  10. Return to the ledge from secret #9, but get the items this time. The ledge counts as a secret.
  11. While still on the ledge from secret #10, you'll see another lightning-bolt wall near the teleporter. Open it to reveal a BFG9000.
  12. While still on the ledge from secret #9-11, you'll see a medikit on a pillar in the blood pit to the west. Fall onto it by running from the ledge.
  13. If you land on secret #12, an alcove in the blood pool below will open. Inside is a invulnerability sphere. Grab it before you teleport out of this area.
  14. Back on the "T"-shaped walkway in the center of the level, drop into the blood pit to the southwest by squeezing between two walls. There is another alcove with a teleporter in it down here; the alcove itself counts as a secret.
  15. The ledge you arrive on by taking the teleporter in secret #14 also counts as a secret.
  16. On the ledge from secret #15, there is a short wall with pipes on it to the right. Open it to reveal yet another secret teleporter.
  17. The teleporter from secret #16 takes you to an otherwise unreachable platform. The room behind the door on this platform counts as a secret as well.
  18. Back at the "T"-shaped walkway in the center of the level, follow the path to the west. If you landed on the pillar from secret #12, two alcoves in the walls (just before the path leads outside) will have opened. The one on the right counts as a secret.
  19. At the west end of the map is a fairly narrow walkway leading to a switch. Walk to the switch and turn back the way you came. You should see two bloodfalls to either side of the walkway. You must run from this walkway onto the one to the left (north). There is a narrow passage in the wall leading to a soul sphere.
Secret Exit: After flipping the switch behind the yellow door, you will gain access to the northern part of the map. There is a bridge that leads to a teleporter taking you to the exit. Instead of going through it, open the left wall (once again, with a lightning-bolt symbol) to gain access to a second teleporter. This one takes you to the exit to MAP31: Cyberden.

Secrets:

In the green marble wall at the south end of the level, climb the stairs and make your way left along the narrow corridor in the back of the room. Flip the skull switch here to open a room back on the lower floor. There's half of a lion-face on one of the walls in the new room; open it to reveal a teleporter to a secret area.

Overview:

Go 2 It is claimed by id Software to be the most difficult official Doom level in existence. Considering the endless hordes of Revenants, Arch-Viles, and Cyberdemons that plague all parts of this level, this claim is probably not hyperbole. Even on the easiest difficulty level, Go 2 It is nearly impossible without cheats for most players. Notably, changing the difficulty will not change the number of overall demons. The only mercy there really is in this stage is the nine Megaspheres and large amounts of ammunition for all weapons (rockets and plasma charges in particular). Beyond that, one should expect to die a lot trying this, and should start on the easiest possible difficulty level. Causing infighting among the monsters may even the stakes somewhat.

Strategy:

Although, at first, Go 2 It may seem to be ridiculously overdone and far too difficult for any human being, there are actually a few important things to keep in mind when playing this.

  • Only use Megaspheres when you really actually need them.
  • Your prime weapon is the rocket launcher; the best alternative to that is probably the plasma gun, then your BFG9000.
  • When Arch-viles are present, focus on them first.
  • Some Cyberdemons will appear in little rooms down one of the halls. Since they can't enter the hall, you can pop around the corner every couple of seconds and fire a volley of rockets.
  • Other Cyberdemons will show up four at a time. With the ones in the big courtyard, kill them by firing out the window in the upper room. There are also more Cyberdemons in the final courtyard. You should be able to run fast to the exit room, closing the doors behind you before the Cyberdemons can catch up.
  • Keep in mind that every key you pick up will release a new flood of demons. Sometimes it'll become apparent right away; other times, you may have to go looking before you find them.
  • If a large group of demons are running around after you, with Arch-viles resurrecting ones you kill, try to get to a place where they cannot pursue you but where you can shoot them. Note that the monster AI does not allow the monsters to take long circuitous paths to get to you, but they head toward you pretty much directly.
  • Getting monsters bunched up in one place ("herding") rather than spread out is very helpful. You do not need to worry about being shot at in all directions, and you can take advantage of the splash damage of the rocket launcher and BFG9000. This is perhaps most effective on the courtyard at the western side of the map.
  • Save the game as often as possible, so if you die, you do not lose much progress.
Secrets:

  1. The outdoor area (analogous to the outdoor area of Doom II MAP01: Entryway) counts as a secret.
  2. The room containing the red keycard (analogous to the rocket launcher room in Entryway) counts as a secret.

Secrets:

  1. At the center of the level is a thin roughly "#"-shaped walkway in a pool of nukage. In the northeast corner of the nukage pool, beneath a triangular outcropping of the wall, is a fake wall you can walk right through to get some hidden health bonuses.
  2. After getting the red skull key, a wall behind you will open, revealing some enemies. One of the walls in the back of this newly revealed area can be opened, leading to a hidden radiation suit and a teleporter to a secret area.

Secrets:

In the central building is a circular blood pool in front of a Baron-faced wall. Follow the stairway to the left up, and continue along the path and down another set of stairs. At the bottom of the stairs, do a u-turn left and you'll be at a doorway leading outside. You should see a gray brick "railing" surrounding the lower pathway outside. Run onto the top of the railing from the doorway you're standing in and turn around. There is an alcove in the wall just left of the doorway you came from; run into it from the railing to get the megasphere and BFG9000 inside.

Secrets:

Go through the teleporter straight ahead of you at the beginning of the level. In the next area, follow the path to the other side of the room, where you'll see a switch. Flip it, and it will lower a nearby wall, revealing another teleporter. Rather than going through that one, go back through the one you originally came through. Back in the first area, follow the path around to the right. At the bend in this corridor, another teleporter (flanked by two skull/candle decorations) will now be accessible. Go through to get some goodies.

Secrets:

  1. Once you reach the switch-activated lift in the "sewer" area, rather than riding it up, walk through it to the other side. Here, along with a security armor and rocket launcher, there is a Baron-faced wall. Press the use key on it as you would a door or switch. Although you won't be able to hear anything, it opens the locked door near the stairway you lowered to enter the sewer area. Behind it is a pathway leading to an ammo cache and a combat armor vest.
  2. In the "library" area in the north is a wall with two red flags on it. To open it, press the use key on the lights to either side of it. Behind it is a lift to a soul sphere.

Secrets:

  1. Behind the blue doors is a huge nukage pool. At the back of this area is a tunnel, at the start of which you can see a rocket launcher behind a gate. Continue along the the tunnel to the right, hugging the left wall as you go. One of the walls lacks the green glow along its bottom edge that the surrounding walls have. It can be opened, and the passage behind it leads to the aforementioned rocket launcher.
  2. In the narrow passage leading to the rocket launcher in secret #1, there is another wall that does not have a green glow on it. Open it to reveal a teleporter to a ledge back in the nukage pool area.
  3. Still in the nukage pool area, step onto the platform bordering the eastern of the two blue doors. Quickly open the door and hug the left wall. An alcove containing a teleporter to a secret area will be open temporarily (Note: Crossing from the nukage onto the platform or vice versa is what actually triggers the alcove to open).
  4. Behind the red doors is a wooden structure with a switch on it, at the far side of a lake of nukage. While the "front" (west-facing) side of the switch opens the door to the exit, the "back" (east-facing) side opens a secret room in the nearby cave with the glowing red floor.

Secrets:

  1. At the very beginning of the level, head straight forward until you hit a wall. Open it to get some rockets.
  2. From the level start, heading either east or west will take you to identical blood-floored rooms. In addition to this main passage running between the two, there are two additional narrow passages to the north and south. Go through the south one (which is lined with armor bonuses). About halfway through you'll see a section of the grey brick wall that lacks the green slime found on the surrounding walls. Open it to get some more rocket ammunition.
  3. There is a yellow door just northeast of the starting rooms. The wall next to it, like the previous two secrets, lacks the green slime on the other walls. There are even more rockets behind it, as well as a teleport pad.
  4. Step onto the (fake) teleport pad in secret #3 to lower a nearby column, revealing a megasphere.
  5. In the blood-floored room the red skull key is in, there is a dark passage off to the south, between two glowing skull decorations. Step onto the platform at the end of this passage and flip the switch to lower the lift to a hidden soul sphere.

Secrets:

  1. At the very start of the level, rather than flip the switch in front of you, turn around and walk through the false wall to get some ammo and a megasphere.
  2. Just left of the start point is a stairway of thin grey pillars leading upwards. Drop down between the pillars and get as close to the brown wall as you can, and you should land in a gate secret area with several powerups and a teleporter out.
  3. After you reach the second large cavern area, drop into the blood below. At the east side of the pit is a radiation suit with a sunken staircase nearby (there is a green arrow pointing toward it). Flip the gargoyle switch at the bottom of this stairwell to lower a nearby section of the ledge above. Behind it is a secret room with a soul sphere and some ammo.
  4. Inside secret #3, open the left wall to reveal a teleporter to a secret area.
  5. After taking the teleporter in secret #4, continue forward and pick up the various goodies to register another secret.
  6. After picking up the blue keycard, two secrets will open. The first is in the same room as the blue door...
  7. ...and the second is located in the high fiery hallway at the southern end of the second large cavern area.

In the raised area with the blue keycard, there are two wooden guard-tower-esque structures. One of them has blood splattered on one of its sides; press the use key on it to lower the floor of both structures. The one opposite the one you pressed has a large skull switch that is revealed when the floor is lowered. Press this switch to open a secret room back in the main area (where the exit teleporter is).

Secrets:

  1. From the start, go down the stairs and drop into the "moat". Follow it left for a while, until you reach a pair of overhanging green structures. An unreachable blue combat armor vest is visible in a nook underneath the western one. Press the use key on the brown wall underneath the nook that does not contain the blue armor, and both nooks will lower. Run over to the blue armor before it rises again to register the secret.
  2. From secret #1, continue east along the moat until you reach a wooden chamber with several lion-faced pillars in it. One of them has blood splattered on its side; open it to reveal a teleporter to a megasphere (Note: you'll actually need to use the idclip cheat code to register this secret, as the sector is so small you can't stand in it during normal gameplay).
  3. From the megasphere, head west down some stairs, then turn left and go straight up another set until you hit a wall. The green-tinged wall to your left opens up, revealing a teleporter to a combat armor vest.
  4. In the same room as the door to secret #2, there's an opening in the east to a vaguely "3"-shaped hall. At the north end of this corridor, there is another green-tinged wall that can be opened for a secret.

Secrets:

  1. At the very start of the level, turn due east and walk off the platform you stand on. You should land on a lower platform with some goodies on it. The teleporter takes you back to the start point.
  2. At the southwest corner of the map is a round, gray-floored room with a green window. There is an alcove with a backpack in it to the west; pick up the backpack and a teleporter will lower. On the other side of the teleporter, turn around and you'll see a brown platform with a combat armor above it. Run onto the platform and ride the lift up to the armor on a higher ledge.
  3. Once on the ledge the armor was on in secret #2, follow the ledge around to a part of the brown stone wall that is crumbling. Open it and gently drop down onto another ledge. From here you can run south to get a soul sphere.

Secrets:

  1. From the start of the level, go through the opening to the left and continue westward, down a spiral staircase encircling a brown slime-filled room. Near the bottom of the stairway is a wall with scratches on it. It's a fake wall, so walk straight through and follow the pathway up to some goodies.
  2. At the center of the level is a huge "+"-shaped tunnel with brown slime on the floor. At the end of the northern arm of this tunnel is a small bank of computers on the wall. Shoot it to open an alcove with a soul sphere in it on the opposite wall.
  3. Just southeast of the "+"-shaped slime tunnel is a room with a square, raised nukage pool with square brown platforms in it. Run from one of these platforms onto the brown "fence" containing the nukage. Follow it along to the west and drop into the small pool of nukage against the wall. The green wall bordering this small pool is fake, and you can walk through it for another secret.
  4. Make your way to the library area just southwest of the "+"-shaped slime tunnel. There is a broad bookcase at the south end of the largest of the library rooms; open it to reveal some goodies.

Secrets:

  1. After getting the red skull key, return to the building you started the level in (the southernmost of the easternmost row of buildings). A secret room will have opened on the back side of it.

Walkthrough:

Go pick up all the goodies in the starting room. Jump down the bloodfall (don't worry it is not a damaging floor.) Go pick up the BFG9000 on a platform on top of a damaging floor. Go towards the opening in the wall. You will be teleported to a area with pillars and Arch-Viles in them. Go straight forward and the wall in front of you will rise down revealing some Lost Souls. The Icon of Sin will be protected with a Cyberdemon. Kill him and then go to the switch on the right. Then go to the switch to the left. This will lower down the pillar and wait. When it is nearly at the top fire a rocket into the avatar-the brain. Fire at least three rockets at the brain, just like in Doom II. The monsters at your back may be ignored for the most part.

Secrets:

There are no official secrets in this level.
