Coverage
Volume 1 covers the story from the start of the VN up to the end of Chapter 5.1, concluding right at the CG of Alice arriving at the amusement park.
There is an entirely new Chapter 0, titled "Avenue Cafe," consisting of just two pages of text at the start. Features typical Nasu description prose and dialogue that appears to be between Aoko and Alice. Not sure where I'd place it chronologically or what the scene is supposed to even be about.
Most chapters retain their corresponding VN titles, except for what appears to be VN Chapter 1.5, which has been shifted to Chapter 2.5 of the novel and titled それまでの話, "What Led Up to That."
It is impossible for me to state as of now whether there is actually "new content" yet.
Illustrations
The book features about 60 to 70 pages of illustrations, all of which are in colour. Around 55 of them take up full pages on their own, while the rest are interwoven with the text. Some act as VN-style full backgrounds, others take up the bottom 20% or half of the side of a page, for example. Unfortunately, most are simply CGs or art taken straight from the VN. I only noticed five pieces of new art: character profile images for Aoko, Alice, and Soujuurou, alongside the promotional book bonuses we've already seen of electric Aoko and Alice with Tweedle Dee and Dum.
Comparison of First Few Pages
Compared just the first scene in detail. As expected, it's mostly identical text with minor polishes in word choice. Some of the more noticeable changes:
The VN's opening scene is framed as what is presumably the red shadow narrating about "the girl" (Aoko) and it's formative event. The novel strips away the third person framing entirely and uses first person instead, making it completely unambiguous that an older/different Aoko is narrating and looking back at her younger self.
Aozaki's family home receives an extra line of description detailing their plot of land housing cows, chickens, and vegetable fields.
Grandpa Aozaki's workshop gets a description painting it less like a home and more like a cave—devoid of electricity, water, or television, containing only books and a desk like a library on the verge of ruin. All of which could deduced from the background of course, but you really do feel more intent when its put into words, if that makes sense. The CG of his workshop in the dim blue light appears on the following page.

Questo non lo conoscevo, era un prologo che Nasu aveva già diffuso nel 2010Poi strano mettere il prologo in prima persona.
Può voler dire che abbia rinunciato alla trilogia.
In conjunction with the official announcement, I also have some regrettable news to share with you all. Due to personal reasons, I, Kazuya Niino, will be leaving TYPE-MOON Studio BB. I would also like to report that I have already withdrawn from the development of "Fate/EXTRA Record," which is currently in the planning and development stage, and have also resigned from my position as director. Furthermore, considering my own sense of responsibility, I have decided to remove my name from the staff credits in conjunction with this announcement. I am deeply sorry to all the fans who were looking forward to this game, as I was unable to fulfill my duties as director until its completion. Currently, a team of excellent staff members are working together to bring this game to release, and I am confident that we will be able to deliver it to you in the best possible form. I will not be making any further mentions or announcements regarding this game, but as a fan myself, I sincerely hope that the game will reach you all safely and I will be cheering it on. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported this game so far. I would appreciate your continued support for "Fate/EXTRA Record."
I am truly sorry for disappointing everyone's expectations. Also, I am currently experiencing some health concerns, so I will be taking a break from game development work for a while.
