In the upcoming Ubisoft game Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the performance gulf is currently drastic: 60 fps on Series X, and 30 fps on Series S. In this case, players cannot go into menus and toggle boosts or gains on Series S to claw those frames back. This game was provided to Ars Technica without formal acknowledgement about that difference, and as of press time, its publisher hasn't responded to questions about whether Series S players should expect a 60 fps toggle at any point.

" Instead, the Series X feels like another version of Microsoft’s last console, the Xbox One. It feels like a much more powerful Xbox One with a striking new look, blazing-fast loading times, and an extra button on its controller. For many reasons, it’s the very best Xbox One. "

Reviewing the Xbox Series X as it stands today we’re left with relatively little to say. It’s the most powerful console ever made (in theory, there’s no way to tell by playing any of its games) and yet it’s been lurking under our TV for two weeks now and we’ve really not been sure what to do with it. Which is a very strange feeling given the release of a new console should be one of the most exciting experiences possible for a gamer.
Is the Xbox Series X a good console from a mechanical view? At this stage it doesn’t feel quite as innovative as the PlayStation 5, but sure. Is there anything interesting to play on it? Yes, but nothing new. Is it good value for money? Yes, especially the Xbox Series S.

" If you’re new to Xbox, you’ll definitely find something to love about the Series X and its blistering performance, but if you already own an Xbox One X, there won’t be a huge world of difference here. You might be better off sticking with your current gen console until the Series X really comes into its own.
Exclusives have been played down for this generation of consoles, but the lack of a killer app really is a blow for the Xbox Series X. Asking people to pay $749 for marginally better graphics and processing than a current gen console in 2020, when everyone is currently dealing with the financial impacts of the coronavirus, is an unfortunate challenge. Really, the timing couldn’t have been worse, but you can never predict when a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic will hit. "

So why do I struggle to recommend Xbox Series in 2020?
For starters, I've already run into one instance where performative parity is not an option. Thanks to embargoes, I have to tiptoe over this anecdote without screen shots attached, so bear with me. That scenario is precisely what I feared looking at the GPU and VRAM differences between Xbox Series. Ideally, Series S owners would assume that whatever they play will feel the same, even if it looks different—particularly thanks to parity on key system elements like Velocity Architecture and CPU. While it's safe to assume that first-party or "exclusive" fare will be optimized by Microsoft going forward, I really need to test and confirm more games on both Xbox Series options before I can tell anyone that Series S is future-proofed.
We don't have truly next-gen game tests we can tell you about yet.

Ridicola come cosa.
