Shorter deadline

yXz6iUO.jpeg

Due to deadline problems, the producers of the game had to use the Quake engine to complete the game on time. This came about because the movie was in theatres longer than expected, forcing the company for which the producers worked to shorten the time to the deadline. As a result the game lacks the elaborate mazes, site bosses, and hidden clues that made its predecessors famous.

Peccato

Villagers originally had a far greater range of voice responses for specific actions such as farming, praying or building, but these were removed at the last minute, being replaced with generic affirmative responses.

Super Mario 64

A 2017 study conducted by a team of Canadian neuropsychologists found that playing Super Mario 64 increased grey matter in the brains of older adults, potentially helping to combat dementia and other neurological disorders. According to the study:

"The video game experimental group engaged in a 3D-platform video game training over a period of 6 months. [...] After training, a within-subject increase in grey matter within the hippocampus was significant only in the [video game] training group, replicating results observed in younger adults."

Curiosità

Strangely, when the player plays as Luigi in the mission "Luigi and the Haunted Mansion" the trapped Luigi will still call out for Mario. This could either be something the developers missed or the fact that he could have been expecting Mario to rescue him.

Red Earth

When Leo defeats any opponents, he strikes a victory pose that resembles Conan's from the 1982 film, "Conan the Barbarian".

Duck Hunt

Multiple early "black box" NES releases' cartridges produced during the console's US launch in Winter 1985 didn't use NES ROM chips, but rather Famicom ROM chips with a built-in converter. The 15 NES launch titles, and the only games known to have these chips, are:

•10-Yard Fight
•Baseball
•Clu Clu Land
•Duck Hunt
•Excitebike
•Golf
•Gyromite
•Hogan's Alley
•Ice Climber
•Kung Fu
•Pinball
•Stack-Up
•Tennis
•Wild Gunman
•Wrecking Crew

All of these games would eventually be reprinted with regular NES chips.

The book

The game makes use of a mechanic that allows the player to affect the "elemental code" of the world around them by using the Book of Prophecy which is situated on the touch-sensitive lower screen. This book is the central focus of both the plot and gameplay.

Scena aggiuntiva:

Sonic 2

There is an additional post-credits scene in the 2013 re-release that can be seen after collecting all of the emeralds that were missing in the original release. The scene shows the Death Egg crashing into Angel/Floating Island, and cuts to Robotnik angrily jumping on the "END" text, akin to Sonic the Hedgehog. Surrounding him are a number of bushes, through one of which Knuckles' eyes can be seen spying on Robotnik, as a foreshadowing towards Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Per i fan

The autotuned part of Escape from the City Act 1 is the same melody from Sonic the Hedgehog 3's Endless Mine level. In addition, Act 2’s theme contains elements of It Doesn’t Matter from Sonic Adventure 2.

Limitazioni tecniche:

Time Crisis

Hardware limitations of the original PlayStation caused the development team to cut the frame rate in half and have only a handful of enemies appear on the screen at a time, among other technical restraints.
