Origini di un nome diventato leggenda

According to former Rare employee Kev Bayliss and current creative director Gregg Mayles, the reason why Donkey Kong Country had the "Country" part of its name was because the game had been known as "The Country Project" during development, owing to the fact that Rare was effectively situated in the middle of the countryside. When staff from Nintendo visited them, they decided to keep 'Country' in the name.

Near the end of Crab Cove is an inaccessible teleporter only viewable by standing on the bridge above it and ducking for long enough to pan the camera down. Hacking the game to make this teleporter accessible reveals that it simply returns the player to the beginning of the level.

This game was plagued by internal conflict within the development team. Hiroki Kikuta wanted to take the RPG genre into a new direction while the others wanted to do something more close to what Squaresoft (now Square Enix) was doing at the time. Kikuta wanted the game to be action orientated, citing Resident Evil as inspiration.
Kikuta departed Sacnoth after the game was released and Sacnoth changed their name to Nautilus. This game is considered the source material for the series Shadow Hearts, as the games take place in the Koudelka universe.
