Level E:

Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia

After you clear Misha and Aurica's Cosmospheres, you can access the special 'Level E' world. These worlds are based on the games Atelier Marie and Atelier Elie, respectively. After you complete the Cosmosphere, Aurica will unlock the 'Marlone' costume, and Misha the 'Elfir' costume, which are based on the Atelier heroines' outfits.

Finally, while not an unlockable costume, there is art of Shurelia in Lita's outfit from Atelier Iris; you can unlock it by getting one of her endings.

In addition to being used in the special attack in select stages, the track "Thriller" was intended to be used in full as the BGM for stage 3-2 of the Genesis version, the cemetery level. However, the song was replaced with "Another Part of Me" due to the former song being written by Rod Temperton and not by Jackson himself. A version of the game that included "Thriller" as the 3-2 theme went undiscovered until September 15, 2017, when a collector going by the online handle of "brian the hedgehog" bought a prototype cartridge at a flea market for $20 and uploaded a YouTube video showing off the track as it appears in-game. The cartridge is dated at April 24, 1990, three months prior to the game's initial release.

Before its release, a free one-shot comic book produced by Marvel Comics detailing the events just before the start of the game was used to promote it in America. The cover art for the comic, drawn by Bill Sienkiewicz, was also used as the game's final cover art in North America. The person on the cover and initial protagonist of the comic is S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team member Richard Aiken.

Prior to deciding on what the new civilizations for the existing architectural styles would be (Spanish, Koreans and Huns) in the Conquerors Expansion of Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, previously considered civilizations had been:

• Western European: Italians.

• Eastern Asian: Khmers and Tibetans.

• Central European: Swiss, Magyars, Slavs and Hasburgs.

In addition, the new architectural style was chosen to be for new world civilizations because the developers found the Aztecs to be cool, had name recognition, and had been defeated by a concatenation of lucky flukes.

Many of these scrapped civilization ideas would later be added into the HD Expansions of Age of Empires II.

After defeating a boss in the international version, the player has to collect 13 continue icons in order to get a continue. In the Japanese version, however, only 10 continue icons are needed.
