Le stelle hanno gli occhi:
In Metropolis, if you get through the whole level without beating a single enemy and talk to the Inventor Droid at the end, she'll say "I've Successfully developed a super powerup here Spyro... knock off just a few more enemies and you can be the first ever to use it." This dialogue isn't normally available to see or hear because the power up only requires one enemy to be defeated to work and there are enemy pigs that self destruct when you get close enough to them.
Doctor Nefarious Tropy was added to the game as the developers felt a time travelling boss was needed, as the game focused on time travel. His shortened name, N. Tropy, is a pun on entropy, a term used to measure randomness and disorder over time.
Vaati's laugh is just a shortened version of the Happy Mask Salesman's laugh from Majora's Mask.
According to former Capcom artist Katsuya Akitomo, Q-Bee's design is a ripoff of Chika, a character from Yoshitoh Asari's manga Space Family Carlvinson. Like Q-Bee, Chika was fully an insect, and only imitated humans through mimicry and by wearing a disguise. Katsuya Akimoto made the original character creppier and removed the original comedic parts.
Due to an unusual mistake, people who preordered the game from GameStop received an automated phone call from them claiming it was a Mature rated game.
Demos of the game, found on demo discs and Spyro: Year of the Dragon, contain full versions of the game. The rest of the game besides the demo content is simply locked, but can be accessed through the use of a cheat code. There are many differences between the game's demo release and the final retail game.
According to an "Iwata Asks" interview, the reduction of Mr. Resetti's duties to an optional event (where they could only see him by developing the Reset Surveillance Center, which only appears as a Public Works Project after resetting the game once) was not only to mirror the Japanese government's budget revisions, but also because Resetti was considered annoying by many players, and made younger ones cry on some occasions. Yet, he still appeared due to the amount of positive attention towards him from the fanbase.
In the Freedom HQ, you can find a series of screens that have some Precursor text scrolling on them. When translated, the text becomes a farewell message to Naughty Dog's pet/mascot, Morgan, who died at age 13.
He is the only character in the series to break the fourth wall.
