I rimpianti del creatore :campione:

In a 2016 interview to promote the release of the 3DS remake, series director Yuji Horii admitted that the game was "too long". The 3DS version notably shortens several of the sections most notorious for taking a long time to complete and includes numerous quality of life improvements that further speed up its pace.

Troppi nomi:

Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap

When ported to the PC Engine, the game's name was changed. The Japanese release was known as Adventure Island, not to be confused with the Hudson Soft series of the same name, and the North American release was known as Dragon's Curse. A Game Gear version was also released in Europe under the game's original title, and in Japan under the name Monster World II: Dragon no Wana.

Corpi speciali militari.

The secret bonus Julius mode pays homage to Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. The party members are Julius Belmont (descendant of Trevor Belmont), Yoko Belnades (descendant of Sypha Belnades), and Genya Arikado in his Alucard form. While there is no one that plays like Grant D'nasty in this mode, looking through the game's ROM reveals dialog that suggest Hammer was going take his role.

Modifiche scontate :morty:

In Mother 2 (the Japanese version of Earthbound), the cultists of Happy Happyism appear with the letters HH on their forehead (for Happy Happyism). In Earthbound, a pom pom was added and the HH was removed, presumably to try to make the cultists look less like members of the Klu Klux Klan. Also, possibly because HH on an already Klan-like sprite could be construed to mean "Heil Hitler". The city "Threek" was renamed "Threed" in Earthbound. Like the cultists, this may also be to avoid any link to the Klan, as Threek could be seen as Three K's, or KKK.

Dread long before Dread :woo:

In 2005, rumors spread of a new side-scrolling Metroid game known as "Metroid Dread". The original version of this game never materialized, although it would be developed and released for the Nintendo Switch in 2021.

However, in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, scanning a computer screen in game reveals the message "Experiment status report update: Metroid project 'Dread' is nearing the final stages of completion.", most likely a nod to Metroid Dread.

Zelos è un gentiluomo :saske:

When Zelos wears his "formal" costume, there's a chance that during battle, his weapon will be changed to a bouquet of roses. This is a cosmetic change and offers no advantage or drawback.

Metti su i trucchi, va...

Contra

A cheat code, which has come to be known as The Konami Code, allows you can start off with 30 Lives instead of 3.

At the Title Screen, Push Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start.

The same cheat code was also used in Gradius before Contra was release on NES.

Dr. Victor and his assistant Mary, located in the Hotel Goumaden, are based on the 1818 novel by Mary Shelley, "Frankenstein", in which the protagonist is named Victor Frankenstein.

L'importanza di chiamarsi Rebecca:

Sweet Home

Nobuko "Nokko" Yamada, who plays the youngest character, Emi, in the original Sweet Home movie was the lead singer in a band called Rebecca. What makes this interesting is that the game that was Sweet Home's eventual successor, Resident Evil, had its youngest character named Rebecca.

Ancora un mistero :rivet:

In the levels "Cortex Power" and "Toxic Waste", there are two enemies that appear to be genetically-altered gangster potoroos, similar to the boss character, Pinstripe Potoroo. This is unusual as no other genetically-altered animals appear as common enemies in the game.

This also implies that Dr. Cortex created a larger gang of potoroo enforcers, but because Pinstripe has rarely appeared in later installments, this has never been elaborated.

Solo un messaggio innocuo :sottosotto:

During the scene where information is presented about the Compsognathus (small green dinosaur), many flaring messages appear as analyses; one reads: "Looking for secret messages? You found one! Congratulations! Though, come to think of it, this isn't much of a secret. It's actually quite lame. I'm sorry."

Il misterioso Starmans Fort:

Super Mario Galaxy

A large castle area called "Starmans Fort" is still present in the games files, but was never finished and went unused in the final game for unknown reasons.

Anatre farlocche :well:

Like a nerd :rivet:

The Head Quarantine Officer instructing Samus through her training sequence during the beginning is voice acted in English by Nate Bihldorf. Nate localized Metroid Zero Mission and contributed on Metroid Prime 2 & 3. In an interview by ShineSparkers, Nate explains his experience, "I thought I sounded like a nerd - but that's what Mr. Sakamoto was looking for, so I guess I'd call it a resounding success." The Quarantine Officer has an uncanny visual resemblance to Dan Owsen who narrated the opening of Super Metroid: "The last Metroid is in captivity. The Galaxy is at Peace...".

La maschera di JoJo:

Devil May Cry

One of the enemies' mask design for "The Nobodies" is based on the "Stone Mask" from Shonen Jump's series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow

The game was released in Europe and Japan as Donald in Maui Mallard, but in the US, it was released as Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow, and all references to Donald Duck were removed. This was due to Disney's marketing department, who claimed that Donald Duck was no longer 'hip' in the US.
