Some of the music tracks in this game are remixes of music pieces from previous installments.
Duff McWhalen's theme is a remix of Bubble Crab's theme from Mega Man X2, Shadow Devil is a remix of the Wily Boss theme from Mega Man, Rangda Bangda is a remix of the Fortress Boss theme from Mega Man X, and the intro theme is a remix of the Variable X/Get Weapon music from Mega Man X/Mega Man 3.

Resident Evil 0
The first boss in the game, the Stinger, has a simple way to be skipped entirely. To do this, the player must run up to the Stinger and drop an item in front of it, then turn around and wait for the boss to lunge at them. If the player picks up the item they just dropped at the right time, they’ll become invulnerable, and the scorpion’s attack will go straight through them. The player can then back out of the menu and simply run past the Stinger to safety.

If you look at the symbols on the bosses health bars, three of them have the normal Sigma symbol (Magma Dragoon, Cyber Peacock, and Split Mushroom), while the other five have the symbol of the Repliforce (Web Spider, Storm Owl, Frost Walrus, Jet Stingray, and Slash Beast). This means that most of the bosses you fight have not turned Maverick like the other games.

The Punisher (Arcade)
The barrel breaking bonus stage bares a strong resemblance to Street Fighter II's barrel breaking bonus stage. This is most likely an intentional reference since both games were made by Capcom.

On the game's Japanese cover, illustrated by Yoshiaki Yoneshima. Blaze Fielding's pose strongly resembles the same pose made by Hitomi Kisugi in an illustration by mangaka Tsukasa Hojo for a 1994 10 aizōban re-release of Shonen Jump's Cat's Eye.

The German translation of Grandia 2 for the Grandia HD Collection mistranslated the "MISS" text for when you miss an attack as "FRÄULEIN" as in the form of address for an umarried woman.

To avoid comparisons between hero Rick Taylor and 'Friday The 13th' villain Jason Voorhees, the design of the Terror Mask in this game has been changed to appear less like a hockey mask and more like a skull.

In an interview, Noboru Sugimura stated that Leon was originally supposed to start out in civilian attire. There would've been a scene between him and Marvin at the police station where he'd change into his police uniform.
"It’s true that with Racoon City destroyed, the police wouldn’t be actively on duty, so there’d be no real need for Leon to change into his uniform… but we wanted to show his determination to protect both the city and his principles by having him change into his uniform regardless. It was a scene with a lot of meaning. Unfortunately, due to a problem with the CG it got cut."

Nintendo used to be the strictest company when it came to censoring their games for the Western market. It seems that RPGs were hit the hardest by this, as games like Final Fantasy II and Chrono Trigger had some of the most ridiculous censorships of all time inflicted upon them.
Secret of Mana was relatively untouched by the censorship policies of Nintendo, however. The game actually managed to sneak something dirty past the rating board. There are two enemies in the game which are sentient books that can flip through their pages and cast random spells on the party.
They are called the Mystic Book and the National Scar. There is a very slim chance that these books will flip to a page that depicts a naked centerfold with a heart beside her. It is likely that the rating board never encountered this enemy action, which is probably how it remained in the game.

If the player uses Rita's Thunder Blade spell against Time Traveler/Dhaos when his health is below half during the Coliseum 200 man battle, Rita will instead perform Indignation and finish him off instantly. This references the intro of Dhaos' home game Tales of Phantasia, where said spell forced Dhaos into retreat. Rita will also be able to use Indignation freely from that point onward. This only applies to the PlayStation 3 version of the game.
