Bowser?

Gex: Enter the Gecko

In the PlayStation version, one of Gex's quips is "I guess Bowser's on vacation?", referencing the main antagonist of the Mario franchise. Ironically, this line doesn't appear in the Nintendo 64 version of the game due to many of Gex's lines having to be cut due to storage limitations on N64 cartridges.

Best Selling

Portable 3rd is the third best-selling PSP game of all time (beaten only by Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories) and the best-selling PSP game by a Japanese developer, an especially impressive feat given that it not only released fairly late in the handheld's life (the PS Vita would release just a year later), but never left Japan. Like with Monster Hunter Freedom Unite before it, it's widely regarded as one of the games you should buy a PSP for, especially in its native Japan.

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake

During a codec conversation in the Jungle Maze, Campbell will say that the radar is being jammed by a substance called "Minovsky molecules". This is a reference to "Minovsky particles" from Mobile Suit Gundam, which have several effects including radar jamming.

Anti piracy

When the player presses Start at the title screen, the game checks for the string "© konami" in VRAM. If the check fails, a flag is set, making the game's final boss, Shredder, much more difficult to beat. If the player manages to defeat this harder version of Shredder, the game will restart at the beginning of the fight.

The game features a hidden fishing merchant named Manillo, who can only be caught at fishing spots by using the Gold item.

Donkey Kong

During development, the first boss fight to be planned for the end of each set of stages was a giant flying squirrel named Momogaa, or simply "The Giant Squirrel" in English (according to an issue of Nintendo Power magazine). The Giant Squirrel would fly around and drop nuts that Mario could then throw back at it, and was roughly 1.5 times the size of Donkey Kong. This size difference, on top of it being the first boss, were the reasons it was scrapped from the final game, as it made Donkey Kong seem less threatening in comparison. The Giant Squirrel would briefly see use as a villain in Kodansha Comics' Super Mario manga in 1995, in which it leads an army of Kremlings from Donkey Kong Country against the protagonists of both games in retribution for being cut from the Game Boy game.

Differenze

Link made his first right-handed appearance in Twilight Princess for Wii. Up through Twilight Princess for GameCube, Link had traditionally been left-handed, but with the introduction of motion controls, director Eiji Aonuma decided to make him right-handed so it would be more comfortable to "swing" the sword with your right hand (which is how most people were playing). Instead of re-doing Link's model though, the Wii version of the game was simply flipped horizontally, reversing the positions of everything from east to west.
