Refused Is Officially the Sound and Voice of Cyberpunk 2077’s SAMURAI!

CD PROJEKT RED announces the studio has teamed up with Refused to bring Cyberpunk’s iconic chrome rock music band SAMURAI to life in Cyberpunk 2077!

Cooperation with the acclaimed Swedish punk rock formation involves writing, recording, and producing an EP featuring the greatest hits of SAMURAI, with creative direction provided by CD PROJEKT RED’s composer team headed by Marcin Przybyłowicz. Tracks born from the partnership include ones both heavily inspired by the original source material, as well as original tracks created by the band exclusively for Cyberpunk 2077.

“I’m incredibly excited about having Refused on board for Cyberpunk 2077,” said Marcin Przybyłowicz, Music Director, CD PROJEKT RED. “I know for a fact there are a lot of fans of the band at the studio, including Piotr Adamczyk, one of the composers working on the game, who came to me with the idea for this collaboration. I’m very happy he did, because the massive riffs, powerful drums, and hard-hitting vocals the guys from Refused deliver as SAMURAI have blown me away,” added Przybyłowicz. “I can wholeheartedly say the punk factor of Cyberpunk 2077’s music is through the roof!”

“Like us, SAMURAI is a group of rebels, albeit in a different time and place,” said Dennis Lyxzén, Lead Vocalist of the band Refused. “Working together with CD PROJEKT RED, writing music and song lyrics for Cyberpunk’s chrome rock icon was fun, but also very different in the creative sense. It was an unexpected challenge that turned out to be right up our alley and really got us going. The songs turned out great and the game looks insane,” added Lyxzén.

President Adam Kiciński said: “We’re working on three Cyberpunk things – the main game and two more.

“These are three teams. We are also working on Gwent and we have an unannounced game at Spokko. So we have five working teams, three working on Cyberpunk.”

Spokko is a Polish mobile game developer acquired in 2018.

Vice-President Piotr Nielubowicz described the company’s new Cyberpunk game as a “AAA role-playing game.”

“Our next big project will also be in the Cyberpunk universe, and we’re already working on it and treating it as a really big and innovative project for us,” he said.

Speaking about the possibility of a multiplayer mode last month, CD Projekt Red’s Alvin Liu told VGC: “It’s very important to us and we’re still working on it, but it’s very much in research and development right now.

“We’re focusing heavily on the single-player experience, but we’re thinking about what it means to be online. We’ll talk about that after we finish the game.”

In realtà spero trovino qualcosa di originale non voglio gruppi già noti e più o meno stereotipati nel genere. QUel post condiviso qualche settimana fa, con la spiegazione dell'approccio cyber + punk suscita curiosità.

Sì tanto penso potremo moddare abbastanza facilmente la musica che vogliamo, nel gioco sarebbe meglio avere qualcosa di più originale :sisi:

Speaking with Gamereactor, Sasko touched on the fact that they want the story featured in Cyberpunk 2077 to draw players in. When asked if Night City-goers can expect similar heart-wrenching missions that are found in The Witcher 3, Sasko said, "Oh I hope so! Believe me guys, what we are doing here - we are going to make you cry, there's no other way. Believe me, we'll do everything to just grab the player and keep them glued to the screen.
