Story


In the distant past there was a terrible battle between men and monsters. There was a hero, who was a central figure on the human side, who fell into the Dragonlord’s trap and was never heard from again. Having lost their mainstay, the humans were driven from the land in which they lived in this dark world, and their numbers decreased by the day. But time flows forward and our story begins when a young person appears in this ruined world ruled by the Dragonlord.

 


Characters


Protagonist – A hero (boy or girl) that possesses the special ability to create items from all things. Designed by Akira Toriyama.


Dragonlord – An evil sovereign who has been ruling the world for the long years since the humans lost their hero.

 


Gameplay


In the beginning, the world is empty. Players are tasked with creating items, towns, and castles, which they can do by collecting materials from all around the world. You can also battle monsters.

“Dragon Quest Builders is a completely new block-making RPG where players must recapture and restore the land of Alefgard after it’s destroyed by the Dragonlord. The vast world of Alefgard is expressed through blocks, which players can freely create, destroy, and remodel as if they’re in a sandbox or playing with building blocks. Please try to create an innovative Alefgard!”

Akcune nuove info su Dragon Quest VIII per 3DS.

Il gioco sfrutterà la telecamera del 3DS, permettendo di fotografare per esempio i mostri, e aggiungendo nuove quest che sfrutteranno appunto questa feature.

The 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King has a new “Camera Mode” that lets you photograph your favorite scenes, Square Enix announced.


To access Camera Mode, simply press the Start button during the game, allowing you to take a photo of the current scene. The captured photo is saved to the SD card.


You can also take commemorative photographs of your party and select their poses. Additionally, at the newly added “Photographer Fort,” you can take on “Photograph Quests” from NPCs to take pictures of rare monsters and hidden items.

Last year, during a tournament for Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru to Ruka no Fushigi na Fushigi na Kagi, Yuji Hori announced that a new game for the Dragon Quest Monsters series was in development, but didn’t say anything about it at all. He didn’t even mention the platform, though today we learn from a Jump magazine scan that it will be for the Nintendo 3DS!
Very few details are available at the moment, except that the game is called Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3. The scan below shows the protagonist, and besides him a new monster can be found: Nochoura. As for the new logo, it was designed by Akira Toriyama). According to Yuji Horii, quoted in the magazine, the game will have quite a lot of content, with new monsters and gameplay mechanics, but also new communication options (most likely for online play).

Passiamo ora alle info, che riguardano il dungeon extra della versione 3DS.

The upcoming 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King adds a new dungeon and boss monster.
The entrance to the new, small cave dungeon suddenly appears in a certain area of the game. The heroes, of course, are there to witness the surprise development.

Within the dungeon is an ominous red poison swamp. Many corpses tell of the dungeon’s horrors.

The new boss monster is named Jahagaros, a sealed demon monster who has been waiting for a group of heroes strong enough to reach the depths of the cave. Everything about Jahagaros is wrapped in mystery. Its true colors is something you’ll have to discover for yourself by playing the game.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King is due out for 3DS in Japan on August 27.

Dragon Quest Builders is an upcoming “block-make RPG” that is set in the land of Alefgard from the very first Dragon Quest game. Kazuya Niinou revealed on his Twitter account that he’s directing the upcoming title.


Kazuya Niinou started out working with Atlus as a director for Trauma Center: Under the Knife, and he also wrote out the plans and specifications for the very first Etrian Odyssey title as the director.

After Atlus, Niinou worked with Imageepoch on titles such as 7th Dragon and Criminal Girls. In recent years, he’s been working as an assistant director for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and it was reported earlier that he was working on plans for an unknown title for the company, too.

While it has yet to be revealed that Dragon Quest Builders is the title that the Etrian Odyssey creator has been planning out, we now know that he is the director for the upcoming title.

Dragon Quest Builders might look kind of like Minecraft with Slimes instead of Creepers, but it actually has a pretty interesting story about how the Dragonord took over the world after vanishing the Hero, and it’ll be up to you to rebuild it and defeat the darkness. You can read more about it in our previous report.

Dragon Quest Builders will release in Japan this winter for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.
