ProtagonistThe protagonist and player character is a young, cool-looking boy. One day, after obtaining a mysterious device known as a “Reactor,” his everyday life is completely transformed. And he would soon realize someone had rewritten his past. In order to return back to his original self, he sets off an adventure. But what kind of future truly awaits him?

Reactor

The “Reactor” is a device that the protagonist wears on his head and acts as a all-purpose tool that will support him in various situations. It has a number of uses, such as analyzing unknown monsters.

Nochora

A slightly unusual creature. After a strange encounter, he tags along with the protagonist to help him on his journey.

Riding Monsters

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 features various enhanced elements over previous games. One in particular is the ability to ride monsters on the field.

Riding monsters allows you to move faster than normal, or reach locations you’d normally not be able to reach. You can ride monsters on the ground, underwater, and in the sky.

Over 500 Monsters

There are a wide variety of monsters to encounter—more than 500. Befriend them using the protagonist’s special “Scout Attack” ability. This game will feature new monsters one after the other.


Wireless Competition

Using the 3DS’ local communication or Wi-Fi functionalities, you can battle other players locally or nationally. Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 also features a surprise competition feature not seen in the series before.

Square Enix has released a new set of Dragon Quest Builders details and screenshots, specifically introducing the town and how you’ll gain experience and level up within it.
Get the information below.

Town

The town is the protagonist’s base. Here, he’ll construct buildings and level up. If he levels up, he can learn new recipes for making items and further the town’s development.

Experience Points

There are three requirements to construct a building: “enclosing a building by at least two levels of blocks,” “providing lighting (such as torches),” and “placing a door.” You’ll gain experience points for simply constructing a building, but by fussing over the interior…

Camp Gauge

When the Camp Gauge reaches its maximum point, you’ll level up. You’ll obtain different values of experience based on the items you place, so try placing a variety of items.

Recipes

Not only can you level up the town, but by talking to villagers when you’ve obtained specific materials, you can learn new recipes. Exploring all over is the key to unlocking new recipes.

Using recipes, you can make items such as the “Storage Chest,” in which you can store created items, or the “Signpost,” a regular item of the Dragon Quest series.

Villagers

In Dragon Quest Builders, by developing the town and rescuing scattered villagers, more and more people will inhabit the town. To make their lives easier, they’ll ask the protagonist for various requests. By taking on these requests, the protagonist will be granted various rewards. Additionally, villagers will help fight off monsters when the town is invaded.

Dragon Quest Builders will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan on January 28.

Story
