A stage presentation at the Jump Festa '20 event announced on Saturday that Riku Sanjo and Kôji Inada's Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken (Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai) manga is getting a new anime adaptation that will premiere in fall 2020. The manga is also inspiring a video game adaptation.
Toei Animation is streaming a teaser video announcing the anime. Toei Animation is producing the anime, which will be hybrid CG and 2D animation.

The live-streamed Dragon Quest Day special "Latest Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai Info: Dai Send-Off Special" announced the voice cast for the new anime of Riku Sanjō and Kôji Inada's Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai (Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken) manga on Wednesday. The special also announced that the anime will premiere on the TV Tokyo station and its affiliates in October.
The newly announced voice cast members are:
Atsumi Tanezaki as Dai
Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Popp
Mikako Komatsu as Maam
Saori Hayami as Leona
Takahiro Sakurai as Avan
Yuuki Kaji as Hyunckel
These cast members are different from the ones that voiced the 1991-1992 movie and television anime adaptations. The staff noted that dialogue voice recording for the new anime has yet to start.
The live-streamed Dragon Quest Day special "Latest Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken Info: Dai Send-Off Special" revealed on Wednesday that Riku Sanjō and Kôji Inada's Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai (Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken) is getting a new manga series in Shueisha's V Jump magazine. Sanjō is credited with the original work, and Yūsaku Shibata (Zipman!!, Yoakemono) is drawing the manga. The manga's story will center on the adventures of the character Avan before he meets Dai and his companions.
Shibata ended his Zipman!! manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on April 6. Viz Media and Shuiesha's MANGA Plus service both published the manga digitally in English.
Additionally, the original Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai manga is getting a new edition that will ship over a period of 10 months, beginning with the first three volumes on October 2. Two to three volumes of the new 25-volume edition will ship every month. The volumes will feature new cover art by Inada, and they will include the color pages that debuted during the manga's serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump.

Ai Furihata as Gome-chan
In the story, after the defeat of the demon lord Hadlar, all of the monsters were unleashed from his evil will and moved to the island of Delmurin to live in peace. Dai is the only human living on the island. Having been raised by the kindly monster Brass, Dai's dream is to grow up to be a hero. He gets to become one when Hadlar is resurrected and the previous hero, Avan, comes to train Dai to help in the battle. But Hadlar, announcing that he now works for an even more powerful demon lord, comes to kill Avan. To save his students, Avan uses a Self-Sacrifice spell to attack, but is unable to defeat Hadlar. When it seems that Dai and Avan's other student Pop are doomed, a mark appears on Dai's forehead and he suddenly gains super powers and is able to fend off Hadlar. The two students then go off on a journey to avenge Avan and bring peace back to the world.

Tomokazu Seki as Hadlar, the demon lord who once tried to rule the world
Tomoaki Maeno as the powerful, muscular Crocodine
Tooru Nara as Flazzard, who can manipuate ice and flames
Takehito Koyasu as the inscrutable Myst-Vearn
Mitsuo Iwata as Zaboera, a cunning sage
Sho Hayami as Baran, who possesses demon-like powers
Takaya Hashi as Vearn, the great demon lord who rules over the demon lord army
Lo speciale evento a tema attualmente in corso in Giappone (che sta anche mostrando a un pubblico pagante i primi sei episodi in anteprima) ha rivelato altre succose informazioni su Dragon Quest - La grande avventura di Dai, attesissimo remake animato del manga di Riku Sanjo e Koji Inada.La serie inizierà sui teleschermi giapponesi il 3 ottobre, ogni sabato alle 9.30 del mattino, come mostrato dal primo nuovo trailer proiettato all'evento.
La opening sarà "Ikiru wo suru" ("Vivere") dei Macaroni Enpitsu, ed è possibile sentirne un assaggio nel secondo breve trailer.
Dulcis in fundo, il completissimo sito ufficiale ha poi recentemente mostrato una nuova illustrazione inedita realizzata dal disegnatore della serie, anteprima di ciò che vedremo nell'annunciata nuova edizione del manga con copertine inedite e tavole a colori.
