Il buff al power plant della FDL è tanta roba, se rendessero meno tediosi gli spostamenti buffando leggermente anche il jump range diventa in assoluto la mia nave preferita. Frontier pls. :.bip:

Progress on Horizons

The Elite Dangerous team are working very hard getting ready for the Horizons beta next week. I have been impressed at what I’ve seen, it’s looking really beautiful; they are doing amazing things.

As always we’ve come across and solved quite a few issues. Our game is already using 64 bit data structures internally, and has been since the Kickstarter, but we’ve had to make a late decision to move to 64 bit OS support only (for Horizons), as some of the things we are doing with compute shaders have proved unreliable on Windows 32, especially with certain graphics cards even with the latest drivers.

So 2.0 and the Planetary Landings beta will be Win64 only. Season one will remain supported on 32 bit as well as 64 bit, until sometime next year at least. The good news is this doesn’t affect the majority of players; over 99% of our existing players are already running a 64 bit OS, but I’m afraid the roughly 0.5% on our last hardware survey who were still running a 32 bit OS will have to upgrade to run Horizons (most of these people may have upgraded anyway as they were still on DX10).

The team are working very hard, including this weekend to get the beta ready. The compute shader issues have caused us some delays, but it is well worth it. We are pushing this technology harder than we think anyone else has pushed it, and the results are great – the quality has continued to get better than those shown in my sneak peeks so far.

It will be tight for Tuesday but hopefully we can still achieve this date. It is looking and feeling really good, but if we find another major issue before Tuesday, we’ll let you know.

I will remain on this thread answering questions for the next hour, and will try to do a ‘sneak peek’ tomorrow too.

Right on Commander!

The team are still hard at work on the Horizons beta, including yesterday and today (Sunday). A huge thanks to the team for this, and for those that sent us pizza. Unfortunately the issues last week have compressed the timescales, but the game is looking ever better. This has put the Tuesday beta release at risk, and though Tuesday is still theoretically possible, in all likelihood it will be in the following few days before we can release it.

Delay confermato, 30 Novembre //content.invisioncic.com/a283374/emoticons/sad.png

It has already been taken, prior to 1.5.
1.5 Beta and 2.0 Beta will be playing in the same worlds - though we want to encourage 2.0 people to restart (don't worry - it won't affect your main game save), as we have a new on-the-surface start position.

(Oops - I think I just made an announcement...! )

The transition from supercruise to orbital cruise is seamless - you just see the altimeter and flight ladder appear. When you drop from orbital cruise to normal flight there is a short transition, as with dropping from supercruise.

----------------------------------

I'm probably wrong, but it looked to me like one of the possible issues is that every ship needs to have enough ground clearance to deploy the Scarab underneath it and then allow the Scarab to drive out - and as a result, landing gear needs to be rejigged on some ships (saw it on the Viper Mk IV, so it'll probably heavily affect the Viper Mk III, Sidewinder and Diamondback among others).
Well spotted! That was an issue, but it has already been addressed. The Scarab auto-retracts its turret to get underneath. You could hear it when I returned to the Vulture in the video on Sunday.

----------------------------------

There are a number of issues (correctly guessed/spotted by some here), including some glitches when travelling down to the surface on some planet types. This morning I have seen the key part of a fix to this, but it still needs to be committed and tested. There have also been some blocking issues with gameplay, now mostly fixed, on some of the surface bases. For example there is a bug we have just found where generators and defences are not properly hooked up to the relevant part of the base, and security doors are not working correctly – issues which can make completing a mission impossible. There are also some polish issues like the streaming stall many people spotted (visible in my last ‘peek’ – where some textures and geometry appear very low res, as the high res versions hadn’t streamed in) which would not have stopped the beta going live, but should now be fixed anyway.

Some people have asked whether they can land on Europa in Horizons. Well, they can. Here is a short unedited sneak peek of Europa from orbit, flying in supercruise then orbital cruise. Still a few rough edges, but getting better. Some settlements get highlighted as we pass over (a dotted circle means it is below the horizon).

Black Ships for Black Friday: 29 free black paint jobs for all those that pre-order Horizons, Horizons Beta or own the Lifetime Expansion Pass.

As part of our Black Friday sale we’re adding an Elite Dangerous Horizons pre-order incentive. Every Commander who pre-orders Elite Dangerous: Horizons before Tuesday December 1 at 6PM GMT will get an in-game black paint job pack called Midnight. Don’t worry, all Commanders who have already pre-ordered Horizons, including those with the lifetime expansion pass, and those with Horizons beta access, will also be given the Midnight paint job pack. With this pre-order offer you’ll get 29 black paint jobs in the pack – that’s one for each ship in the game! (excluding those in CQC). This pre-order incentive will be withdrawn after 6PM GMT on Tuesday December 1 - so make sure you pre-order Elite Dangerous: Horizons now to get your free Midnight paint job pack. Those who take advantage of this deal will have the pack waiting for them in-game when Elite Dangerous: Horizons is released.
