DMC V è fighissimo, ma non ho ancora voluto/potuto fare run a difficoltà più interessanti, shame on me. :sadfrog:

Warframe lo avevo giochicchiato su PS4, ma lo ho iniziato in modo serio su "masterrace", veramente interessante, soprattutto se giocato con amici. Un po'farmoso, ma d'altronde è la natura dei F2P.

Ed in Persona 3 sono arrivato in autunno e la trama incomincia ad essere molto più interessante :unsisi:

Dall’ultimo aggiornamento ho finalmente recuperato e tristemente abbandonato Dark souls remastered. Abbandonato non perché non lo apprezzassi, ma banalmente perché dopo due settimane di immersione sono ricominciate le lezioni, e riuscendo a dedicargli tempo solo saltuariamente tutta l’inerzia si è persa e con essa la voglia di rimettermici sotto. In parole semplici, potrei dire che ho preferito conservarne un ottimo ricordo piuttosto che rischiare di rovinarmelo.

Nelle scorse settimane ho poi recuperato Oxenfree, dato via gratis dall’Epic store. Sono un po’ combattuto su di esso, c’è un insolito equilibrio fra ottimi spunti e difetti palesemente evitabili. L'esempio più lampante è il sistema di dialogo, molto carino ma evidentemente imperfetto: le opzioni di dialogo non solo iniziano a scomparire prima che si abbiano sufficienti informazioni per fare una scelta sensata, ma di fatto rendono inutilmente complicato seguire la conversazione; inoltre la scelta della risposta a volte tronca di netto chiunque altro stesse parlando, altre volte attende pazientemente il proprio turno, e il fatto che la cosa sia totalmente imprevedibile tende a spezzare il ritmo della conversazione in modo piuttosto innaturale. Non si tratta di difetti critici, ma si tratta della meccanica di punta del gioco e vederla così poco rifinita fa storcere un po’ il naso. Più pesante per la godibilità del titolo è però la navigazione, inutilmente tediosa, con personaggi lentissimi ed occasionali ostacoli e tortuosità che probabilmente intendevano spezzare la monotonia, ma all’atto pratico rappresentano solo una seccatura aggiuntiva. La lunghezza delle conversazioni inoltre non è sempre ben calibrata sui percorsi, con alcuni dialoghi che finiscono troppo presto e cadono improvvisamente nel silenzio, ed altri che verrebbero troncati nel passaggio da una schermata all’altra se non ci si fermasse ad aspettare che finiscano. Infine impossibile non citare un inspiegabile backtracking a cui il gioco ricorre più di una volta, e che rischia inutilmente di uccidere il ritmo. Nel complesso si ha la sensazione che il gioco sia stato artificialmente annacquato, e dispiace perché non ce n’era proprio motivo. L’unico aspetto su cui non ho riserve è la direzione artistica complessiva, che brilla in particolare nei fondali, davvero bellissimi da vedere. Bella anche la colonna sonora. Tirando le somme non un titolo memorabile, minato da difetti fastidiosamente evitabili, ma nel complesso non va troppo lontano dagli obiettivi che si era posto e che riesce tutto sommato piacevole – anche se occasionalmente un po’ noioso.

Ho deciso poi di sfruttare questi dieci giorni di vacanze pasquali per attivare la prova gratuita di una settimana di Playstation Now. Due parole sul servizio: ottimo per quanto riguarda i titoli PS4 scaricabili, meno per quelli delle generazioni precedenti. Funzionano, ma ci sono occasionali scattosità e il leggero lag nell’input mina di fatto alla base tutti quei generi che richiedono maggiore reattività da parte del giocatore. La libreria è un buon inizio ma dovrà essere espansa in maniera consistente per valere l’abbonamento richiesto.

The unfinished swan è il primo titolo che ho recuperato, per il quale basterebbe dire che mi è piaciuto quanto What remains of Edith Finch – e non avrei osato sperarci. I Giant sparrow hanno uno stile narrativo già inconfondibile, con slanci di creatività che mi ricordano addirittura Calvino per la loro commistione di leggerezza e melanconia, meraviglia ed ironia. L’idea di partenza è brillante ma il gioco non si ferma lì, e cancella ogni rischio di monotonia introducendo nuove meccaniche e sviluppandone le possibilità per tutta la durata (perfetta) della storia. Dolcissimo nella sua semplicità il collegamento a posteriori con Edith Finch, che avevo dimenticato. Quello dei Giant sparrow sarà un nome da tenere ben presente negli anni a venire.

Left behind non è niente di più e niente di meno di quello che ci si aspetterebbe, una divagazione di una manciata di ore sulla storia di The last of us che nel suo piccolo riesce a mantenersi all’altezza del titolo principale. Non ci sono aggiunte davvero sostanziali né dal punto di vista narrativo né da quello delle meccaniche, ma va già benissimo così.

Ultimi due giochi recuperati con PS Now. Deludente Abzû, che in pratica offre poco più di uno screensaver interattivo. Da vedere è magnifico e l'ingresso in ogni nuova area ha del magico, ma è davvero troppo poco. Si va avanti meccanicamente ripetendo sempre le stesse azioni, per arrivare a un finale di una banalità disarmante. Le ultime sequenze mi sono poi sembrate inutilmente tirate per le lunghe, e la cosa ha del ridicolo se si considera che tutto il viaggio non arriva alle tre ore di durata. Non si può negare che nei suoi momenti migliori riesca a toccare vette al limite del sublime, ma sotto la splendida superficie l'offerta di contenuto è davvero troppo povera e svogliata.

Valuto Until dawn pur non avendolo tecnicamente finito, perché banalmente mi è scaduto l'abbonamento quando mi mancava giusto un'oretta alla fine. :asd:

Ha i suoi pregi e i suoi difetti, questi ultimi in gran parte dovuti alla travagliata storia dello sviluppo (nato come progetto in prima persona per PS move su PS3, e traslato su PS4 con controlli più tradizionali e radicali modifiche al gameplay). Fra di essi troviamo: controlli legnosi e spesso controintuitivi, interattività accessoria e collezionabili che nella maggior parte dei casi spezzano solamente il ritmo, e tante, troppe sezioni in cui non c'è altro da fare che camminare per interminabili corridoi in attesa che succeda qualcosa. D'altro canto è un esperimento riuscito nel restituire un'esperienza da horror di serie B quasi quintessenziale, con un piacevole ritmo da serie TV e un'interattività narrativa che pur non essendo rivoluzionaria sa essere divertente. (Carina la meccanica del "non muoverti", e interessante, anche se poco sfruttata, quella legata alla raccolta degli indizi. Nel suo piccolo ho trovato intrigante anche l'idea dei totem premonitori, così come quella degli intermezzi fra un capitolo e l'altro.) La formula non si discosta poi molto da quella di un Heavy rain, ma a mio parere trova qui un genere, un tono e delle ambizioni più adatti alle sue possibilità. La quantità di cliché che gli sceneggiatori sono riusciti a stipare in una decina scarsa di ore ha del commovente, e non mancano un paio di buoni colpi di scena; in questo senso si potrebbe dire che Until dawn sia un prodotto abbastanza definitivo, per ciò che voleva offrire. Nel complesso, promosso.

Aggiornamento di Marzo/Aprile, periodo abbastanza impegnativo tra Sekiro e Vampyr.

Mi prenderò qualche giorno per giochi soft oppure una pausa.

Sekiro ottimo gioco al netto di alcuni difetti (soprattutto a livello di varierà) e della solita realizzazione tecnica un po' scarsa di from, compensa ampliamente con un bs molto interessante che magari in futuro potrà essere evoluto ulteriormente.

Vampyr invece è stata una mezza delusione a causa di problemi tecnici enormi che mi hanno parzialmente rovinato un'esperienza di gioco sicuramente interessante lato personaggi, ambientazione e storia (un po' meno a livello di varietà e struttura di gioco).

Comprato un bel po' di roba e finito Axiom verge. L'unico grosso difetto per me è stato il backtracking troppo pervasivo nell'ultima parte dell'avventura, in cui in assenza di indicazioni ci si riduce a battere la mappa avanti e indietro più volte nella speranza di imbattersi nella stanza giusta per proseguire. Molto meglio nei primi due terzi di gioco: è un peccato che il senso di progressione si areni così, guastando un gusto dell'esplorazione fino ad allora costruito benissimo (ma magari è colpa mia). Per il resto un giocone, direzione artistica magnifica nei fondali e nei boss, colonna sonora pazzesca, e gameplay che riprende molti degli aspetti migliori del genere metroidvania aggiungendoci un tocco personale. Lore intrigante ma troppo sparsa e convoluta per riuscire a destare davvero interesse. Impressionante che sia stato creato da una sola persona, colonna sonora compresa.

Finito Danganronpa, anche se non so bene perché. Diciamo che parte da un'idea sulla carta intrigante, e che ha avuto il merito o la fortuna di piazzare i suoi cliffhanger proprio nei momenti in cui stavo per abbandonarlo. Per il resto scrittura piattissima e di una ridondanza agghiacciante, trama e conflitti buttati lì tanto per tirare avanti la baracca, motivazioni inventate sul momento, gestione delle informazioni disonesta, casi che si risolvono da soli (nel senso che o sono troppo stupidi o sono talmente convoluti che a un certo punto ti infilano la soluzione in bocca e bon), meccaniche dei processi noiosissime, minigiochi rotti, personaggi e direzione artistica tarati su cliché weaboo di bassissimo livello, riferimenti e rotture della quarta parete da sommelier del cringe, finale aperto di una banalità disarmante, insomma c'è poco da salvare a mio modo di vedere. Per il momento non gli do l'insufficienza, giusto perché dopotutto è riuscito in qualche modo a convincermi a passarci diciassette ore, e anche giochi molto migliori non ci sono riusciti. Ma siamo lì.
