CyberConnect2 is releasing an HD version of the classic .hack//G.U. series.
The news was confirmed by president Matsuyama Hiroshi, who confirmed the news over on his*official Twitter account.
While platforms are currently not confirmed, Hiroshi did mention that a promotional campaign would come alongside the HD release, enabling fans to get a special XR Unit in game.
A western release wasn’t confirmed, but Hiroshi pointed out that .hack*has sold over seven million units in the west, and that*the original version*has been released in the west – possibly a hint towards a western release?
A trailer for the HD remake was shown internally, depicting characters*Haseo and TriEdge fighting each other, although Hiroshi said that it’s been so long since he’s seen the game, there were some characters he doesn’t recognize.
Hiroshi teased fans wanting a sequel to .hack, saying that demand has been so large that CyberConnect2 proper has made a note of this, and they’ve “accepted the wishes” of their fans. Finally, a reveal for the HD remake of*.hack//G.U.*is coming at this year’s E3.
