Fujiwara: Originally, L'Aqua had hot springs that Pokémon loved, and various Pokémon, including Legendary ones, would visit. As a result, energy from all these Pokémon dissolved into the springs, turning it into a special place. The reason we submerged it in the sea was to avoid it being discovered through satellite images or the like.
Matsushima: Making it an island overlaps with an idea in one of our upcoming new projects. For that reason, I’d like to avoid the island concept.
Omori: We’re planning a game with an island theme after Titan, so it would be preferable not to overlap with that idea.
Fujiwara: I understand, as Morita has already informed me about it. We’d also like to avoid overlapping with the main series. But if there are any ideas for avoiding this overlap, I’d love to hear them. For example, perhaps we could adjust the size or scale of the island.
Omori: It’s difficult to explain without giving too much away, but what we’re planning for the next brand-new title might clash with this concept. I can’t say more, but we’re thinking along the lines of "what can be done with an island."
Iwao: If it’s just the concept of an "island," then it’s not much of a concern since Pokémon Sun & Moon already explored that. But if L'Aqua is one of several islands, it overlaps significantly with the concept we're working on.
Fujiwara: We’re envisioning an isolated, floating island.
Iwao: I'd like to avoid the idea of having to stop by other islands on the way to reach it.
Omori: If each island has its own environment, with Pokémon adapted to it, or if the Pokémon on the island affect the environment of the island, that would overlap with our concept.
Matsumiya: From what I see in the current setup, the “island” concept seems to serve as a way to “avoid prying eyes,” so it might be better to approach it from that perspective.
Iwao: If it’s possible to avoid using an island, that would be ideal. If not, we’ll have to think of a way to prevent overlaps. For example, if the concept involves “an island powered by Ancient Tortoise,” then it’s very similar to what we’re envisioning.
