Saints Row IV first game after R18+ to be Refused Classification


When we were all attempting to get the Australian Government to recognise video games as a hobby maintained by adults, the opposition frequently claimed the R18+ legislation would mean objectionable video games would start pouring into the country. Now however, we have proof that they will not as the Acting Director of the Classifications Board - Mr Donald McDonald - announced in a press release today that Saints Row IV - the new sequel to the popular open world ridiculousness-fest - would be Refused Classification for sexual violence. To quote the Board:

In the Board's opinion, Saints Row IV, includes interactive, visual depictions of implied sexual violence which are not justified by context. In addition, the game includes elements of illicit or proscribed drug use related to incentives or rewards. Such depictions are prohibited by the computer games guidelines.

Saints Row IV is the first game in the series to be released after Volition's acquisition by Deep Silver, the European Publisher best known for zombie game Dead Island. In countries other than Australia, Saints Row IV players will take the position of the leader of the Third Street Saints after they are elected President of the United States - but in Australia it will be illegal to sell or advertise the game (but not illegal to own, depending on which state you live in.) lo possono comprare tranquillamente import ed anche se fosse visto in dogana non costituirebbe illecito il volerlo far entrare nel paese in quanto l'acquisto sarebbe già stato fatto all'estero (su server ospitati all'estero, per meglio dire).
