Bandai Namco announced new information about Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization during its Tokyo Game Show 2016 stage event, including confirmations of post-launch updates and both free and paid downloadable content.

Free updates are planned after Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization is released. The first free major update, “Fighters of the Blue Sky” (title tentative), is due out in 2016 and will add a new story featuring Rain and Seven from Sword Art Online: Lost Song. It will add new maps and reflect user feedback, as well.

Downloadable Content:




Both free and paid downloadable content are planned after Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization is released.

Free downloadable content includes additional quests and missions, etc.

Paid downloadable content includes the “Shrine Maiden of the Abyss” (title tentative) story, which is different from the main story will be told across three additional episodes launching in 2017.

In Japan, the episodes will also be available in a Season Pass. While specifics have yet to be announced for North America and Europe, the three additional episodes are likely part of the leaked Season Pass.
