However, in terms of technology, while there are changes to how the game presents on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles, the basic headlines remain in place. Whichever way you play, it's a challenge to get a stable 60fps level of performance on even new consoles, despite a choice of two rendering
Ultimately, it's hard to recommend the quality mode owing to its uneven performance and in our opinion, it's best avoided. It's clear none of the current-gen consoles work well in targeting a fixed, high resolution: the result being a wavering 30-60fps range for all three machines, occasionally dropping into the 20s. Typically, PlayStation 5 offers a lead over Series X in quality mode, while Series S languishes behind the three with the worst frame-rate reading.
Microsoft's system-level integration of variable refresh rate (VRR) support- if it's an option for you, we recommend setting your screen to 60Hz (even if it supports 120Hz) and using VRR here to smooth out the performance drops. All told, this is our preferred way to play the game across any available system - though in non-VRR mode, PlayStation 5 does actually run better. Typically, while traversing on foot, there's a margin of around 10fps in PS5's favour - though on horseback Series X can at points take a lead of its own. It's a mixed bag, but PS5 does have an advantage in frame-rate mode overall. Still, without VRR support, the v-sync judder is present either way.
Loading times see some difference between the systems, and it's generally in favour of PlayStation 5: a six to seven second wait for fast travel on Sony's machine compares well next to the 17 seconds on Xbox Series consoles. It's a significant difference, especially for a game that demands fast travel and often pushes players to rely on respawning. From Software is known for improving loading speeds in patches though (as we saw in Bloodborne), so hopefully Xbox sees some improvement.
In summary, both quality and performance options run with a fully unlocked frame-rate. Kicking off with the quality mode, PS5 and Series X run at a fixed 4K - 3840x2160 - while Series S renders at 2560x1440. There's no dynamic resolution scaling in quality mode, meaning that performance adjusts constantly in order to keep resolutions rigidly fixed at these targets. On the PS5 and Series X this changes image quality, where the range varies from 2688x1512 at lowest to full 4K at peak. Series S is similar, albeit with a 1792x1008 to 2560x1440 dynamic range. It's worth noting that cutscenes are fixed to the max resolution in both cases. So, for example, PS5 and Series X run at a fixed 4K while first meeting Margit the Fell - even in frame-rate mode. Hence, the performance isn't wildly different to quality mode.
What's the difference? Curiously, if we factor out resolution, it's surprising to see just how close the two modes are in settings. Grass draw distance and density are identical between all consoles, and all modes. Even Series S holds its own against PS5 and Series X in rendering Limgrave's beautiful opening vistas. Shadow rendering however is the one big difference between the modes, with an improved turn-out in the quality mode. In Series S's case shadows are always one preset lower than PS5 and Series X equivalents (which in turn share the same setting regardless of mode), resulting in an especially blurry, low resolution shadow in its frame-rate mode.

TL;DR:

:asd:

  • initial console release on last gen was spotty
  • cars are high detail but environments are rather low fidelity
  • premium consoles get new bokeh in menus over gaussian blur on last gen
  • shadow resolution is high resolution, PS5 has better shadows
  • Series S has the same settings, but lower quality grass, textures
  • mirror lighting is different, sometimes too dark to be usable
  • temporal artifacts in the rain
  • replays have asset pop-in
  • Series X is 1440p to 2160p, close to 4K most of the time
  • PS5 is 1152p to 2160p, around 1800p mostly
  • TAA used but aliasing still shows
  • Series S is 1080p to 1440p, mostly 1080p
    • car selection is 4K, but 20fps
  • PS5 performs best, near locked 60fps
    • when stressed ~55fps
  • Series X targets 60 but can drop more than PS5
    • replays hit the 30s
  • Series S can get to the 50s in regular races
    • stressed performs close to X
    • replays in the 30s
  • all are better than One X
  • Series duo loading a 8 secs, PS5 a little worse

  • PC does not have Nextgen patch. The version used is from 2015 with all settings in Ultra.
  • PS5 version improves startup load time by removing part of the intro cinematic.
  • All versions have the same textures.
- PS5 has a clear performance advantage over Xbox Series S/X. Xbox consoles have an uneven framerate in demanding moments.
  • The Xbox Series X and PS5 versions have better shadows and ambient occlusion in some cases than the PC version using Nvidia PCSS. These shadows seem to be generated by ray tracing, but I'm not sure if it's really this technology.
  • Xbox Series S has some shading cutbacks and no RT Performance mode.
  • The PC version still has a greater draw distance in assets, but less in shadows (even with the advanced long shadows mode).
  • Console versions also add some extra lighting fixes and effects.
  • PS5 may experience some graphical shadow bugs when changing display modes.
  • Performance and Performance RT modes seem to use some sort of temporal reconstruction.
  • Fidelity mode has better shadows, reflections, depth of field than the other two modes.
  • Fidelity mode reflections on consoles are slightly higher quality than the PC version.
  • The PC version has a higher density of vegetation.
  • In general there is a very similar result to the PC version in Ultra (still quite demanding today). - The improvements of this Nextgen version are comparable to those of Ghost of Tsushima or Death Stranding. These improvements are far from the ones they brought to PS4/ONE/PC with respect to PS3/360.

  • PS5 1296p-2160p
  • XSX 1008p-2160p
  • Worth mentioning that bottom-end figures aren't indicative of typical gameplay
  • XSX/PS5 typically run at or near 4K for the vast majority of the time, with XSX having a slight resolution advantage in general play
  • XSS 936p-1440p
  • Cube maps update at 60hz on XSX/PS5. XSS cube maps update at 30hz
  • Performance on PS5, XSX, and XSS is 60fps locked in all gameplay scenarios
  • Replays on PS5 & XSX have some rare frame drops
  • Replays on XSS frequently drop frames to as low as the 40s
  • One X runs at 1080p/60fps with lots of drops in gameplay and replays
  • For 120fps mode on PS5/XSX, resolution drops to 1440p, screen space reflections are cut, and cube maps refresh at a lower rate in gameplay
  • Both consoles hold 120fps very well in gameplay, with rare drops
  • In replays, both consoles drop frame rates frequently in 120fps mode
  • XSS has no 120fps mode

  • PS5 loads in 4.38 seconds vs 10.12 seconds on a PC w/ an i9 10900k & 3.5 GB/s NVME drive
  • PC w/12900k and 7.5GB/s NVME drive showed little loading time improvements on PC. Appears to hit an artificial ceiling on PC for load times.
  • Load time varies depending on what save is being loaded & what PC hardware is in place but PS5 is always significantly faster
  • Alex used scenes where the PS5 would drop below 60fps as a benchmark to test like-for-like GPU performance on PC
  • nVidia RTX 2060 Super performs at 71% of the performance of the PS5 on average
  • AMD RX 5700 performs at 75.4% of the performance of the PS5 on average
  • RX 5700XT performs at 83.5% of the performance of the PS5 on average
  • RTX 2070 Super performs at 88.5% of the performance of the PS5 on average
  • RTX 2080 performs at 96.6% of the performance of the PS5 on average.
  • PS5 vastly outpaced it's RDNA 1 cousins on the PC side
  • PS5 lands somewhere between an RTX 2080 and an RTX 2080 Super in performance

Assurdo vedere una macchina da 399€ tenere botta così :asd:

This next outing from developer Gearbox takes what we know and love about Borderlands' shooting and looting and takes it to a new fantasy setting. Both PS5 and Xbox Series X are in the limelight here; both sporting 120Hz modes and 4K and 60fps options. Meanwhile it's again the case that Series S gets left behind - with a solitary 1440p mode. What else has been cut? And how do the three compare? Tom finds out.
  • not an open world, more old-school jrpg with an overworld and separate areas
  • resolution mode - 4K/60
    • 1800p to 2160p
    • Series S - 960p to 1440p
  • performance mode - 1080p/120
    • typically fixed
  • Series S has no mode toggle
  • no difference between Series X and PS5
  • Series S loses grass density
  • framerates is mostly smooth, can drop when there's lots of alphas to the 50s
  • Series S has more frequent drops
  • VRR helps Xboxs
  • splitscreen drops framerate into the 50
    • in performance mode, on a 60hz display gives you flat 60
  • performance mode caps to your tv refresh, so only 60fps on 60hz tvs
    • 90-120fps in solo
    • frame rates are higher on average on Series X, it really doesn't matter tho
  • PS5 has faster loading
    • 8 seconds on ps5
    • 11 seconds on xboxs

io ho visto che il mio tv oled (benchè abbastanza buono) mi pre triboli coi giochi 30fps ,mentre coi 60 è tutto bellissimo
