Ubisoft Toronto has finished working on its portion of Rainbow 6 Patriots, studio boss Jade Raymond has told VG247′s Sam Clay.
After a core development team shuffle back in 2012, it was reported that Ubisoft Montreal would continue work on the single-player portion, while the Toronto team would handle the MP missions.

The team working on the title is believed to be around 200 strong and while originally thought to be heading to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, it’s likely the game will be released on next-gen – either in tangent or exclusively.

Ubisoft Toronto ha completato la propria parte del lavoro relativo a Rainbow 6 Patriots.

Dopo una riorganizzazione dei lavori inerenti lo sviluppo del titolo, allo studio di Toronto era stato assegnato lo sviluppo della parte multiplayer, mentre la parte single player era rimasta compito di Ubisoft Montreal.

Ubisoft Toronto sta attualmente collaborando allo sviluppo di Splinter Cell: Blacklist, al capitolo di Assassin's Creed successivo a Black Flag e ad altre due IP non ancora annunciate.

Earlier today, Ubisoft had their financial report released to the public. In the report they spoke about two new, unannounced titles. More specifically, they mentioned that two titles are unannounced with one being "new." Knowing this, the other title is assumed to be from a franchise we already know.
Today, a source confirmed that one of the unannounced titles Ubisoft Toronto is working on is "Rainbow Six: Patriots," and that the team is aiming for release on next generation hardware and consoles.

Arrivati a questo punto mi pare inevitabile che sia per next-gen.Sarebbe il motivo per cui non è mai stato mostrato finora.

 
Meno male, alla fine era un titolo che mi interessava e prendendo la ps4 mi sarebbe dispiaciuto giocarlo su ps3

Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Patriots has been formally removed from GameStop's database, and is no longer available for pre-order. Some retailers automatically deactivate database entries after a lengthy period of time, which wouldn't mean much in this instance. GameStop, according to a source with intimate knowledge of the retailer, "actively flipped a switch" to eliminate Rainbow 6 Patriots from its system.
GameStop tends not to remove big-name games from major publishers without an official confirmation that a title is dead, a source said. Moreover, it's exceedingly rare for GameStop to delist a game that appeared on the cover of its Game Informer magazine.

Amazon, Game, and other retailers, meanwhile, retain a listing for Rainbow 6. While the removal from GameStop isn't indicative of a cancellation or delay, it brings up the question once more: What is going on with this game?

La divisione USA di Gamestop ha annullato i preorder e cancellato il gioco dai server (intenzionalmente secondo IGN).

Può essere che il gioco sia stato cancellato,o più probabilmente sia ora molto diverso da com'era all'annuncio //content.invisioncic.com/a283374/emoticons/sisi.gif

 
se i preorder erano per la versione ps360 ed è stato detto che il progetto diventerà next-gen è logico che gli ordini sono stati cancellati, mica potevano portarli da ps3 a ps4

Key ha fatto un parallelo con Watch Dogs: "i ragazzi hanno lavorato a lungo su quel gioco ed è da sempre stato un titolo per la prossima generazione di console. E ci avevano visto giusto." ha affermato lo stesso che, proprio a proposito di Patriots ha parlato di "fare un passo indietro. In realtà non abbiamo nient'altro da annunciare o dire su Rainbow Six, ma possiamo solo dire che è un progetto interessante per noi".

For further clarification, we directly asked Key if it’s safe to say the game will be next-gen at this point, and he simply said “yes.”

In an interview at Gamescom, Ubisoft executive director Alain Corre said that work is still underway on the game, but that the team wants to get it "perfect" before it's re-revealed.

 


“On Rainbow 6, it’s still cooking,” Corre told IGN. “It’s an important franchise for Ubisoft. We want to make sure, on this one, like all the other games we’re working on, that we bring it when we feel it’s perfect.”

 




 
Rainbow 6: Patriots “wasn’t working” and had to be “remade,” according to Ubisoft:

Speaking with IGN, Detoc said the game’s revamp was the cause of the radio silence on the project.
“We had a core team. They had a good vision. They got started, and then the game wasn’t working,” he said. “So [they had] to start again. There’s an editorial group in Ubisoft, a big group, very influential. If the game is not good enough, they say it’s not good enough. Most of the time, the team will say, ‘yeah, I know.’ But sometimes they want to continue in a direction where you say, ‘no, it’s not going to work.’

“Rainbow had to be remade. Now they’re going to have the benefit of the new consoles, if and when it comes out. It’s one of those examples where you try, it doesn’t work, you try again. If it doesn’t work, we’re not going to bring it to you.”

Detoc also said the game could have a completely different title and format than what was announced in 2011 when all is said and done.

“Could it be shooter with another name in the end, because the team doesn’t want to do counter-terrorist guys? Say they want to be in a mercenary setting? That’s possible,” he said.

During E3 this year, Ubisoft’s Tony Key said the game had switched to next-gen, and back in August, executive director Alain Corre said the project was “still cooking,” and that the team wanted people to be “astonished” and pleased with “what they see” when it was finally re-revealed.
