TROLL FOOD INCOMING
The story actually turned out to be quite a bit of fun. People see the tone of this game and they immediately pattern match dismiss it as a mindless shooter when it's anything but. Your foes are point farms and you'll have to re-think how you kill because of it and the story is brisk and enjoyable and will pull you through the campaign.
This dev diary is damned near a parody of most. Many dev diaries are self serving snoozefests that talk about how the game will change humanity. (I've been guilty of this in the past myself!) The route taken with this one is "fuck it, the game is what it is."
People complain that they don't get to see or get to know who the developers are enough, well, maybe because if they ever do put themselves out there in an unusual manner they're torn up by an all too eager internet crowd of trolls. The same trolls who then complain about the fact that the developer to celebrity ratio of the Spike TV awards is skewed more towards the actor category than the devs.
Luckily, I myself have grown skin of Adamantium and I feed off of this sort of thing. Call me an asshat all you want. However, keep in mind that many creatives aren't tempered in the raw sewage of compuserve, BBS's, Something Awful, and Gaf like yours truly and have feelings and take this shit to heart.
If this video gives you a reaction, any, good or bad then it has done its job. If the zoom lens on the talent (who were instrumental in building the title, remember) is off putting then make sure you see some cool new game footage in between the EXTREMEOCITY diary clips.
Oh, and there's one with me in it coming up, so make sure to watch it and call me a giant faggot. Repeatedly, please. And share it with your friends, my giant levels of faggotry.
Whatever it takes to launch new IP in this market.
Love,
Cliff
