Do not Shoot the Water!

During Chapter 1-3, before Leon gets on the boat in the Lake, if the player stands on the edge of the dock and fires into the water Del Lago will burst out of the lake and appear to swallow Leon causing instant death. This is actually just an animation followed by the game over screen. Even though it will still result in a game over, it is possible to have Del Lago not touch Leon by standing back away from the shore just throw an explosive near you to knock you down and away from the dock as the monster emerges. Getting a game over in this manner grants the player with the Do Not Shoot the Water! award in the HD ports of the game.

Aqua's design was somewhat different in early development. Her back was more exposed in the beginning but in the final version was more covered. There was also a point when her hair and eyes were darker, and lacked the sheen of the final game.
