On the Tanker mission, the cooking pans found in the kitchen area each play a different note when shot, and are arranged as a musical scale so that the player could play music on them.

Super Mario World

In the Japanese version there are coins at the end of the last level in the Special World that spell out the words "YOU ARE SUPER PLAYER!!". This error was fixed in the Western localization, with the coins now spelling "YOU ARE A SUPER PLAYER!!"

Un tributo ben celato :sottosotto:

The developers paid tribute to designers Andreas Tawn and Steven Adams. According to the game's source code, Havana's secret base is called "Drea And Steve's Evil Lair"

Astal

Astal's spine did not feature the game's name, which may have lead to its poor sales in the US. Retailers would have had to display the case forward facing, rather than to its side as standard.

Demo storiche :sottosotto:

One of the early tech demos for the Wii in 2005 was a re-tooled version of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It was the most advanced of the 8 available demos and was the only game to incorporate the Nunchuk. It took one developer two months to complete the demo for the Tokyo Game Show. The game would later be fully ported to the Wii in 2009.

By defeating 1,000 Old Axe Armors in the regular story, you can unlock a special version of the game in which you will play as an Old Axe Armor. This mode is the only special mode which does not give you a partner.

Okami

An unused enemy named "Gotouryu", a Flying Demon based on the Japanese yōkai of the same name, can be found in the data for the Wii version. When asked about why the enemy was cut, director Hideki Kamiya admitted that he forgot to add the enemy in the game.

Qualche incoerenza :rivet:

There are a few inconsistencies between the Omega Metroid in this game and the ones in Metroid II: Return of Samus. The first is the size of it, as it was 150% Samus' size in Metroid II, but is now twice her size. This could be linked to the baby Metroid in Super Metroid, who grew larger late into the game. Another inconsistency is the fact that it's only weakness in Metroid Fusion is the Ice Beam, when the Ice Beam had no effect in Metroid II.

Twilight Princess is one of the few Zelda games that does not have a magic meter. As such, there is no need for Green Chu Jelly, which is an item used to refill magic in other Zelda games. However, in the Wii version, it is possible to obtain Green Chu Jelly through normal means. But it is only possible once, in the "Cave of Ordeals", room 19. Carefully kill all of the purple Chus and let a Blue Chu and and Yellow Chu merge. Kill it and then scoop up the remains with a bottle. Link will now be holding a bottle of Green Chu Jelly. It has no text, description or effect whatsoever. However, performing this trick in the GameCube version produces a Purple Chu instead.

Washer Banjo, the transformation available in the Grunty Industries world, is a reference to the the first game in the series, where Mumbo might accidentally turn Banjo and Kazooie into a washing machine when casting a transformation spell on them.

Scudi dai colori insoliti

If Link possesses a red shield and the Ether medallion, Link can obtain an "ice" shield that has a blue palette swap in place of the usual red color on the shield. Link must use Ether while a Pinket takes Link's shield and then kill the Pinket afterwards. When Link picks the shield back up, it will turn blue. Using Ether again will return the shield to it's original red color.

In the Japanese version of the game, the Zora Queen's smooth gem is not a source of her power. The gem is actually her secret to beauty, and she turned fat when she lost her gem. Any reference was changed to power in the US version.
One of the Zora in Zora's Domain says he's fond of the Queen being fat, but in the US he just says that they have to get the gem back. After getting the gem back to Oren, that same Zora was disappointed that Oren became slim again. Another Zora mentions the queen's beauty returning, but it was changed to just "What a relief."
After completing the House of Gales, a Zora says that he was swimming with the queen but lost her, even saying that he lost her because she was so slim. In the US version, nothing about weight was mentioned. It seems likely that these changes were made as Nintendo of America didn't want people to think the game was fat shaming people.

Hanno trovato il Tesoro :morris2:

Contra III is director Nobuya Nakazato's first project in the Contra series, later acting as producer and director. Programmers Hideyuki Suganami and Mitsuru Yaida left Konami shortly after Contra III to work at the then-newly-founded Treasure, where they helped develop Gunstar Heroes (1993) and Alien Soldier (1995), which both expanded on the run and gun game formula defined in Contra III

ActRaiser

The North American and European versions of Actraiser are significantly easier than the original Japanese version. There are less enemy encounters in both the action and simulation portions of the game. Moreover, the action sequences have less traps.

La nascita delle mini medal :phraengo:

zMn6DRE.jpg

In a 1989 interview with the game's director/scenario writer Yuji Horii in the 11/89 edition of Famicon Tsuushin, he was asked where the idea for the mini medals, a recurring hidden collectible in the series first introduced in Dragon Warrior IV, came from? He responded:

"DQIV is a multi-chapter story, and you ultimately end up gathering eight party members together, so we thought adding a bunch of story items you had to collect on top of that would be too much, and annoying. But collecting things like “orbs” and “crests” is undoubtedly one of the appeals of Dragon Quest, so we wanted to give players something to collect."

"“Ah hah! Coins!” — that was our first idea, and small medals were originally “gold coins”. But that name was too easily confused with the coins at the casino. Then we remembered the idea we had for “small medals” for Dragon Quest III, 2 and that’s how they got their name. (laughs)"

If Taz picks up Bugs when acquiring Babba's token in the Genie Temple, Bugs can get stuck and fall through the desert and land at the beginning of the Arabian Era.

Sonic e Arale:

Sonic the Hedgehog

The title screens of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, with Sonic (a character known for his super speed) posing and waving his gloved hand inside of a ring lined with stars and a ribbon banner at the bottom, could possibly be taken from the logo of the 1981 anime "Dr. Slump" and its speedy protagonist Arale. It should also be noted that the ring surrounding Sonic has giant wings protruding from its sides, which appear to reference the angel wings on Arale's cap that also feature in the intros to the anime and some of the films.

While it's not known if any Sega employees have commented on this connection, it was acknowledged in the form of a small cameo appearance where Sonic gets outrun by Arale in the 1993 sequel manga "The Brief Return of Dr. Slump".
