As Bungie is no longer working on the Halo series, fans have been clamoring to find out more about their next original title. While Bungie has thus far been locked down tighter than Apple before they started leaving prototype iPhones in bars, all of that is about to change. In “Bungie Community Theatre, Act Two”, a rather funny video with the british-accent sporting DeeJ answering fan questions, it’s announced gamers will be able to explore an entirely new world in Destiny very soon — “within a matter of weeks”, infact.

 


It’s been speculated that the game could be a Xbox 720 launch title, so this unveiling could certainly go along with that timetable — especially if the console is announced as expected in the next few months.

Activision casts doubt on 2013 release for Bungie's Destiny

"It will also be a year of significant continued investment in several new properties with long-term potential that are not factored into our 2013 financial outlook, including Activision Publishing's new Bungie universe, Call of Duty Online for China and the new Blizzard MMO."

 


Were Destiny a cert for a 2013 launch, it would absolutely be included in the earnings plans. It's a huge project for Activision Blizzard and was referred to numerous times by the company's top brass.

Said Activision Publishing boss Eric Hirshberg:

 


"Development also continues on our new ground-breaking project with Bungie. Bungie defined the action-shooter category with Halo, and we feel this project will once again deliver genre-defining innovation.

 


"While we don't have a launch date to announce today, we expect to deliver incredible games with unprecedented marketing support for new IP. We look forward to sharing more information on this title in the near future."

Bungie ha annunciato tramite un video l'imminente rivelazione del suo nuovo progetto, Destiny.

 


"Abbiamo lavorato per anni su un universo totalmente nuovo. E lo esplorerete molto presto", dichiara la società. "Non siamo ancora pronti ad alzare il sipario, ma tra qualche settimana vi mostreremo cosa abbiamo creato finora".

 


Anche se Bungie parlerà di Destiny durante la Game Developers Conference, l'annuncio ufficiale è atteso prima dell'evento.

Bungie launches Destiny viral marketing site

An official announcement of Bungie’s next project, Destiny, is coming soon. Last week, we heard that a reveal will be taking place “within a matter of weeks.”

Bungie is now making preparations for an unveiling through a new viral website/ARG of sorts. Access it here (http://alphalupi.bungie.net/). Completing the “puzzle” will bring you to another page, pictured above.

There’s also an instructions page containing the following content:

Our sky is filled with unseen signals. Radio-frequency emissions pulse and flit and dance all around us. Yet even a singing patch of sky can be observed, and transformed into a range of frequencies.

Can you hear it? No, not yet. It has not yet arrived. But together we can receive its call.

Imagine combining the observations of thousands across the globe on an object meandering through the heavens. The resulting array would be quite large. Quite powerful. This is your task.

Alone it will not be enough. Coordination and timing is needed. Observations must be made simultaneously.

Your window will be small. Five minutes at most. But windows may be reopened. And the distance between observer pairs will be key.

There will always be limitations in clarity, so the results must be archived for study. Highly technical observers may be required. Detailed frequency analysis is recommended.

Everything that belongs to us will be ours, but only if we create the capacity to receive it.

It sounds like more content will be added to the viral site over the coming days. You have our attention, Bungie…
