Super Seducer l'ho trovato molto simpatico e l'ho completato volentieri al 100%. Strange Journey Redux è molto valido per carità ma in certi punti mi ha fatto venire due palle così, me lo sono trascinato parecchio prima di riuscire a finirlo. Victor Vran è il primo gioco che ho scaricato per il mese di Now a 1€. Ho completato la storia principale e l'espansione dei motorhead, l'ultima no perché non mi andava più. Per chi cerca un gioco simil Diablo è da giocare.

Noto solo ora che il mio ultimo aggiornamento risale a metà maggio, il che rispecchia la mia estate quasi totalmente lontana dal gaming (ad eccezione di qualche sporadica partita in multiplayer a COD). Comunque, nelle ultime due settimane ho ricominciato a giocare e ad acquistare, quindi è tempo dell'aggiornamento di fine estate

Come detto sopra, a parte Ratchet giocato a giugno, poi ho fatto una lunga pausa di quasi due mesi, giocando davvero poco e niente. Nelle ultime settimane ho ri-acquistato Metro Exodus in versione Complete così da giocarmi finalmente le due espansioni e sfruttare l'upgrade PS5 + il ritorno su Ghost of Tsushima sfruttando la Director's Cut appena uscita su PS5.
Il tutto in preparazione per un settembre di fuoco, dove ho almeno due uscite grosse cui difficilmente riuscirò a resistere (Tales of Arise e Deathloop) e due indie su cui conto moltissimo (F.I.S.T. e Kena). Dubito riuscirò a prendere/giocare tutto, quindi dovrò fare delle scelte molto dolorose, vedremo al prossimo aggiornamento

Finito Super Mario 3D World e completato al 100% con tutti i personaggi.
Pensavo che deve essere dura essere 3D World, ovvero avere la colpa di essere "solo" un grandissimo titolo, ma non un capolavoro enorme assoluto come lo erano i suoi predecessore Galaxy 1 e 2 ed il suo successore Odyssey.
Ma anche qui non ci sono chissà quali vie alternative se non basate sull'abilità, io che gioco Mario da sempre non seguirò mai il percorso di un neofita, e questo in Odyssey/64/Sunshine è ancora più presente. Poi purtroppo il controllo di Mario è tutt'altra cosa. Sì ci sono anche quelli ma...

E cosa deve dire uno... impressionante. Anche retrospettivamente, dopo quasi un quarto di secolo, recuperato per ultimo dopo aver giocato tutti e sei gli altri capitoli 3D, la quantità di idee e la precisione dei dettagli lascia esterrefatti. Probabilmente è per me impossibile immaginare l'impatto che deve aver avuto per chi ha avuto la fortuna di giocarlo all'uscita. E non voglio nemmeno iniziare a parlare della colonna sonora... Non so se esistano altri casi simili, ma la sensazione è che anche la definizione di capolavoro stia veramente stretta.
A mio modo di vedere, questo rifacimento in 3D è attualmente il miglior modo di vivere questa pietra miliare. Per quanto posso saperne io, che ho provato solo per le prime ore l'originale su GC, un remake prossimo all'ideale, rispettosissimo dell'originale nel rinfrescarne l'aspetto e nello smussarne gli angoli, quanto nel mantenere il più possibile intatto il materiale originale. Indubbiamente si perde qualcosa nel giocarlo sul piccolo schermo, e il tipo di gioco chiaramente meglio si presta a sessioni prolungate per cui sarebbe preferibile giocare su televisore; d'altra parte, compensa con un 3D meraviglioso capace di infondere nel mondo di gioco una vitalità difficilmente riproducibile altrimenti, a prescindere dalla risoluzione o dalla dimensione dello schermo.

Appena finito Mana Spark. Lo presi tempo fa alla modica cifra di 1€ (spesso è in offerta a quel prezzo) e finalmente ho deciso di dargli una chance. Tra l'altro mi ha fatto anche sentire un caxxo di "gamer hipster" visto che il titolo è stato sviluppato da un team brasiliano di soli due sviluppatori
Scrivo qui un mio commento dato che non ho trovato un topic dedicato e penso che non esista dato che si tratta di un indie che avranno giocato in 4 gatti.
Commento breve: è un titolo che consiglio caldamente agli amanti del roguelike, ma chi non ha la pellaccia dura e non ama avere a che fare con giochi cosi tosti, ne stia alla larga.
Commento luuungo:
Per me si è trattato del primo titolo roguelike/roguelite mai giocato. Diciamo che non ero abituato alla sensazione costante di amore-odio che si prova dall'inizio fino ai titoli di coda in questo genere di giochi. Mana Spark è bello tosto. Segue le regole base del genere, il gioco è ambientato in un dungeon in cui i vari piani sono formati da stanze con layout e nemici generati casualmente. I power-up passivi che si ottengono ad ogni run sono anche questi casuali. Ed ad ogni morte si ricomincia da zero. Un minimo di progressione si ha reclutando NPC ed altri personaggi giocabili nell'accampamento che fa da hub per l'avventura. Dico un minimo, perchè a parte la possibilità di scegliere tra più di un personaggio e di equipaggiare un'arma secondaria all'inizio di una run, non si ha la sensazione che i pg giocabili diventino di gran lunga più forti tra una run e l'altra. Nelle prime 2-3 ore di gioco uno dovrebbe aver sbloccato quasi tutto ed a quel punto resta solo il gameplay loop di provare run dopo run ad arrivare in fondo al dungeon.
Per andare avanti l'unica strada è il classico "git gud" unito ad una buona dose di culo considerando che quasi tutto è generato casualmente. Nelle prime run i primi nemici dotati di scudo, cosi come il primo boss mi hanno allegramente preso a badilate. Poi run dopo run si impara e si va avanti, fino alle nuove razze di nemici che ti fanno il culo e cosi via. In genere a seconda dei buff passivi casuali che si raccolgono durante una run si può diventare più o meno potenti, ma mai abbastanza da rompere il gioco, infatti anche se ci si sente forti e con una buona combinazione di buff, bastano pochi errori o una stanza con un layout stronzo ed è game over. I pg hanno pochi hit points, quasi tutti i nemici picchiano forte e senza determinati buff è difficilissimo recuperare hit points perduti. Già nei primi livelli, senza buff i nemici possono 2-shottarti o addirittura 1-shottarti
Una chicca che non mi aspettavo da un gioco cosi povero, è che in alcune situazioni i nemici hanno dei pattern in cui collaborano tra di loro, ad esempio orchi e goblin possono cavalcare i lupi, i maghi possono potenziare gli altri nemici, ma la combo più infame è che alcuni nemici si mettono dietro altri con lo scudo e ti tirano roba dalla distanza.
I personaggi giocabili hanno stili di gioco molto diversi tra loro e non c'è nessuno che è oggettivamente meglio degli altri. Guardando qualche let's play sul tubo vedo che chi gioca su PC preferisce personaggi che sparano frecce, perchè con il mouse si può raggiungere precisione pixel-perfect che ti permette di colpire anche nemici dotati di scudo. Per me invece giocando su switch con il pad era impossibile raggiungere certi livelli di precisione con le frecce, perciò al tendere ho mainato un pg melee che al contrario risulta più scomodo per chi gioca con mouse e tastiera.
Un'altra chicca che ho amato molto del gioco è la lore. Nel corso delle run è possibile raccogliere pezzetti di lore, anche questi generati casualmente, ma visto il numero enorme di tentativi necessari per completare il gioco, si finisce per raccorglierli incidentalmente tutti. La lore è ben scritta ed è minuziosa nel giustificare tutto quello a cui andiamo incontro nel corso del gioco, dal gameplay loop stesso fino all'origine di ogni nemico. Più volte leggendo un pezzetto di lore ho avuto un momento "aha!" perchè veniva spiegato un qualcosa del gioco che inizialmente sembrava avere senso soltanto in ottica gameplay. Alla fine con un po di flavor text, gli sviluppatori sono riusciti a rendere interessante questo mondo piccolo ma cattivissimo di Mana Spark.
Per concludere: come dicevo, per me si è trattato di un rapporto di amore-odio per questo gioco. Ha tanti elementi che lo rendono interessante, nelle prime ore di gioco era quasi una droga, morivo tanto, ma piano piano andavo avanti e scoprivo roba nuova, che fossero personaggi, nemici, armi o lore. Poi una volta scoperto tutto sono rimaste principalmente le legnate che ti mena il gioco. Più ci si avvicina al boss finale più diventa frustrante morire. Alla fine di ogni run che sembrava promettente, bestemmiavo e dicevo "basta, mi sono rotto le palle, adesso lo droppo". Invece dopo qualche ora o giorno lo riprendevo e facevo un'altra run. Per come sono io alla fin fine non l'avrei mai droppato, completare il gioco era diventata una sfida personale. Alla fine mi sentivo anch'io prigioniero del dungeon . Quando finalmente sono riuscito a battere il boss finale ho goduto abbestia e mi è sembrato di essermi tolto un peso enorme. Per questo ho deciso di non prendere il DLC, diciamo che di legnate ne ho prese abbastanza da Mana Spark
Finito anche Mass Effect 3 e portati a casa altri titoli……

Insomma anno strano, sicuramente con moltissimo Genshin Impact e Warhammer 2 (ma vabbè è il GOTG) ed il nuovo lavoro da 10h+sabato hanno influito negativamente sulle ore giocate.
Però, insomma meglio che essere disoccupati e con la depressione a palla.
Comunque, Tales of Arise grossa delusione (da ignorante dei Tales)
Mi aspettavo un bel JRPG, ma per il momento ho solo trovato dei trope ripetuti all'infinito. Vediamo se la "seconda parte" migliora.
E non devo shoppare impulsivamente Lost Judgment...come ho fatto per la limited di Persona 5 Royal, che ho già in DD, ma volevo quel Memento.
Giocato Mirror of Fate. Il capitolo della serie LOS più vicino come premessa e gameplay ai castlevania classici.
Ahime non ha superato molto bene la prova del tempo, si tratta di un metroidvania ingessatissimo, sia per quanto riguarda il controllo del personaggio che l'attraversamento del mondo di gioco. Sembra lontano dalla fluidità e dalla qualità degli igavania.
Infatti i primi due difetti che saltano all'occhio sono la legnosità dei movimenti del personaggio ed il fatto che abbiano trasposto in un gioco 2D quel maledetto sistema di arrampicate. A me personalmente irrita pesantemente dover far muovere il personaggio da appiglio ad appiglio, dovendo seguire un percorso prestabilito fatto di puntini luminosi. Sembra che gli sviluppatori mi prendano per deficiente. Non capisco perchè non hanno gestito il platforming in verticale come in tutti metroidvania precedenti e futuri, ovvero facendo saltare liberamente il personaggio da piattaforma a piattaforma. E' un sistema che ha sempre funzionato e continuerà a funzionare, specialmente in titoli 2D.
La direzione artistica eccelsa che era il punto di forza principale del primo LOS, qui soffre molto il passaggio al 2.5D ed ad un hardware meno potente (anche se io ho giocato il porting su steam, che ripulisce un po la resa visiva). Ma il fatto che alcune aree siano piuttosto anonime, mi fa sospettare anche una certa mancanza di ispirazione per questo titolo.
Anche il combat system ha sofferto il passaggio al 2.5D. Infatti risulta essere una versione ultra semplificata di quello di LOS. In particolare quasi tutte le tipologie di nemici, compreso i boss, sembrano seguire lo stesso pattern, ovvero alternare attacchi parabili ad attacchi imparabili e quindi vanno combattuti quasi tutti allo stesso modo. Tutti i 3 personaggi giocabili (4 contando anche il prologo) hanno esattamente lo stesso moveset, le uniche differenze sostanziali sono nelle sub-weapon. Anche i power-ups che usano la barra della magia, a differenza di LOS, non stravolgono lo stile di gioco, ma fungono semplicemente da buff passivi.
Il caso di Alucard è quello più emblematico. Bisogna dimenticare la varietà di armi che aveva in SotN, o anche solo la sua spada. Qui trovano una scusa per mettere una combat cross anche in mano a lui. Poi l'apice si raggiunge con la trasformazione in licantropo. Che sulla carta sembra una figata, ma nella pratica si tratta solo di un cambiamento estetico più un buff in attacco. Anche da uomo-lupo Alucard continua a combattere nello stesso modo usando la combat cross. La trasformazione non serve nemmeno per l'interazione ambientale, "apre" semplicemente delle porte.
Il gioco è diviso in tre Atti, ovvero tre mini-metroidvania autocontenuti, ognuno con un protagonista diverso e che racconta un pezzo di trama. Il primo ha come protagonista Simon, e purtroppo è di gran lunga il segmento peggiore del gioco. Qui la legnosità è fuori controllo. Avendo meno poteri a disposizione dall'inizio, la principale interazione con l'ambiente di gioco sono le odiose arrampicate. Purtroppo il primo power up che aggiunge varietà al platforming si ottiene quasi alla fine di questo primo atto. Anche il combat system risulta pesante, perchè le combo si sbloccano livellando e quindi all'inizio i nemici vanno zappati con gli attacchi base. Questi difetti si sommano al fatto che il primo atto è quello in cui le ambientazioni sono le meno ispirate, infatti le grotte e le stanze del castello che si attraversano sono purtroppo super anonime.
Un giocatore poco "resiliente" potrebbe essere tentato di dropparlo qui e perdersi gli Atti 2 e 3 che sono nettamente migliori sotto tutti i punti di vista. Infatti un po di quella direzione artistica eccellente che caratterizzava il primo LOS inizia a riemergere già dal secondo atto, in cui ci sono luoghi come la torre dell'orologio che sono influenzate dalle creazioni di un certo antagonista, che riusltano belle da vedere ed interessanti da attraversare. Ci sono anche un paio di puzzle ambientali non banali che spezzano positivamente il ritmo del gioco. Verso fine gioco anche il combat system diventa più soddisfacente, dato che nelle fasi finali vengono introdotti nemici con pattern che si distinguono dalla maggioranza e sbloccando tutte le combo, il moveset diventa un minimo più vario.
La trama è molto semplice e si sviluppa in pochissime cutscene. L'unico grosso colpo di scena purtroppo io me lo era già spoilerato prima di giocarci, ma comunque mi sembra che venga telefonato sin dall'inizio. Le cutscene a volte risultano un po troppo sopra le righe, sia per quanto riguarda le espressioni facciali che per la recitazione enfatica. Ad un certo punto c'è anche un "Nooooo!" che mi ha ricordato il meme di Darth vader
Concludendo: se considerassimo solo gli Atti 2 e 3, si tratterebbe di un buon metroidvania. Buono e non ottimo, perchè purtoppo prende le piste da molti esponenti del genere, specialmente in questa gen, in cui si sono stati settati standard altissimi. Da buono però il giudizio diventa discreto se consideriamo anche il primo atto con Simon, che ho trovato davvero molto pesante da giocare.

Tron Run/r (Ps4) (Now) Mi ha intrippato di brutto, peccato che alla fine sia un po' corto. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (Ps4) (Ea Play) Mi viene l'orticaria ogni volta che sento parlare della forza, dell'impero e ste menate qua, però volevo comunque giocarlo e ho fatto bene. Gran bel gioco. Need for Speed Payback (Ps4) (Ea Play) A me non è dispiaciuto affatto, gare di accelerazione (pallose) e speedcard a parte (che sono una minchiata) Dragon Age Inquisition (Ps4) (Ea Play) Bello, anche se sono passati anni da quando a giocato a Origins e quindi non ricordavo nulla. Need for Speed Heat (Ps4) (Ea Play) Il peggior gioco della serie, tra quelli che ho giocato. Le gare di notte sono inutilmente frustranti per colpa della poliziache ti sta attaccata ai maroni e ti fa perdere i sudati guadagni. La storia poi, ci ho messo la metà del tempo per finirla rispetto a Payback. Mah.

Che senso ha cercare di battere il proprio punteggio migliore se non puoi nemmeno vederlo? Ridicolo. Dopo lo 0 e il Kiwami 2 la ripetitività di certe formule lo ha reso troppo prevedibile e poco interessante. Il fatto che il gameplay sia due o tre passi indietro rispetto alle iterazioni più recenti era ovvio, ma non posso certo dire che abbia aiutato. Piacevole la prima parte a Okinawa, l'intreccio centrale l'ho trovato più interessante dei tre giochi da me giocati, però la storia del sosia me l'ha fatto un po' scadere e avvicinandosi al finale c'è la solita escalation trita a cui faccio sempre più fatica ad appassionarmi.

Con Lords of Shadows 2 ho finalmente portato a termine la sottosaga di Castlevania dei MercurySteam. Alla fine secondo me si è trattato di buoni giochi, con poca originalità, ma salvati da una direzione artistica magistrale. Portano il nome "Castlevania" in modo un po abusivo, e penso che senza quel nome non li avrei mai presi in considerazione
Quindi alla fine ho giocato il tanto vituperato Lords of Shadows 2. Sarà che le aspettative erano bassissime, ma in realtà non mi è dispiaciuto, anzi, l'ho trovato meglio del primo che ha una fama molto migliore. Forse è questione di gusti, ma in genere preferisco un mondo interconnesso, anche se gestito male ad un gioco a livelli. Lato gameplay poi sono state introdotte migliorie significative. Le QTE sono drasticamente diminuite ed anzi sono addirittura disattivabili. Le sezioni in arrampicata sono state semplificate di molto e rese più fluide. Adesso non spezzano il pacing del gioco costingendo il giocatore a seguire lentamente un percorso tracciato, ma sono semplicemente un modo per muoversi in verticale. Ma l'improvement più colossale è la telecamera libera., grazie a questa, i combattimenti e l'esplorazione, che poi sono il "core" del gioco sono nettamente più appaganti. I collezionabili ad esempio non sono più nascosti in punti ciechi dell'inquadratura fissa, ma si ottengono esplorando il mondo di gioco come è giusto che sia. Anche al combat syetem sono state introdotte leggere migliorie. Mi sono ritrovato più spesso che nel primo capitolo ad usare i poteri, che sono stati aggiornati e danno ai combattimenti un pizzico di strategia in più. La meccanica del livellamento delle armi mi ha lasciato impressioni contrastanti. Da una parte ti forza a sperimentare le varie mosse, ma dall'altro a lungo andare ti costringe a spammare tecniche scomode solo per grindare. Una volta maxato tutto però ti da una padronanza del moveset che poi si rivela vitale nelle sfide di fine gioco.
Quello che resta in linea con il capitolo precedente è la direzione artistica di altissimo livello. I Mercury sono (quasi) sempre una garanzia da questo punto di vista. Forse solo alcuni ambienti urbani sembrano un po troppo "comuni" (ma anche in LOS1, i primissimi livelli nella foresta erano un po più blandi degli altri). Poi un drogato di lore come me, nelle prime fasi del gioco, passa più tempo a leggere che a giocare. Il menu della serie LOS con l'estetica da antico tomo solenne, resta secondo me uno dei menu di gioco più belli di sempre.
Finora ho parlato principalmente degli aspetti positivi del gioco. Ma purtroppo, come è già stato detto, il gioco ha senza dubbio difetti ben visibili. Il fatto che il gioco sia ambientato (in parte) ai giorni nostri è stata una delle cose che mi aveva gasato di più guardando la scena post credit di LOS1. Ma, poi pad alla mano, le fasi iniziali del gioco mi hanno fatto pensare ad una scopiazzatura malriuscita di Arkham Asylum (le scopiazzature malriuscite purtroppo sono un tema ricorrente nella saga LOS...). Il design ddi Castlevania City, con il suo stile gotico mi ha ricordato Gotham, ed il fatto che il protagonista debba infiltrarsi in ambienti industriali alternando sezioni stealth a sezioni di combattimento, mi ha dato l'impressione di controllare un personaggio alla Batman più che Dracula. Le sezioni stealth appunto sembrano una imitazione appena abbozzata di quelle della serie Arkham. Per fortuna nel gioco queste sezioni sono poche e corte, nel complesso del gioco impattano relativamente poco (l'unica un po più bastardella è quella con Agreus). Certo il fatto che il Principe dell Tenebre, come ci viene venduto, debba trasformarsi in ratto per sfuggire a degli energumeni col fucile ha un po un qualcosa di patetico...
Come dicevo all'inizio, avere un mondo interconnesso da esplorare è un upgrade rispetto al primo capitolo, ma potevano curare di più la qualità della vita del giocatore. La mappa del mondo non esiste, ma ci sono solo mimimappe per le varie aree, che servono però a ben poco per orientarsi. Le opzioni di fast travel sono gestite malissimo. I punti in cui ci si può teletrasportare sono pochissimi e per raggiungerli bisogna farsi tutta la strada a piedi. So che gran parte dei giocatori attuali vede il backtracking come il male assoluto, io non sono tra quelli, ma un po di pesantezza in LOS2 l'ho sentita.
Ma la parte di gran lunga peggiore del titolo è la storia. Hanno tirato fuori un guazzabuglio senza senso pieno di buchi di trama che culmina in un finale a dir poco imbarazzante. Riporto giusto un paio di perle:
La fratellanza della luce nei capitoli precedenti era con le pezze al culo, tanto da mandare il belmont di turno da solo ad affrontare il "male", ma nel prologo mette in campo un esercito da 500.000 uomini con tanto di titano
all'inizio si parla generalmente di "accoliti di Satana", ma poi verso il finale si scopre che ne esistono solo 3
tutta la parte della ricerca dell'antidoto non porta a nulla e l'antidoto si rivela inutile ai fini del proseguimento della trama
la figura di Victor Belmont trattata malissimo
ma la cosa più ridicola è il finale. Per tutto il gioco si crea hype per il ritorno di satana, ma poi la boss battle finale è contro Alucard e Satana viene ucciso in quattro e quattr'otto in un vicolo. Già l'idea di uccidere Satana è una cosa cringe di per se, poi in quel modo...
Insomma, per concludere, il titolo non mi è sembrato disastroso come mi aspettavo. Ho apprezzato molto le migliorie rispetto al primo capitolo. I difetti sono ben evidenti, ma per i miei gusti impattano fino ad un certo punto. La trama è una merda, ma visti i precedenti LOS non mi aspettavo una storia da nobel. Le fasi stealth alla fine sono poche e fortunatamente banali. Il back tracking è gestito male, ma in genere a me non pesa poi tantissimo, specialmente se le zone che si attraversano sono un bel vedere. Alla fine l'ho completato volentieri al 100%, comprese le challenge. Non sono molto difficili, ma mettono alla prova sia la padronanza del moveset, sia la capacità di affrontare le sfide in modo strategico.
Il DLC Revelations è più o meno dello stesso livello del gioco base. Il titolo è proprio una truffa, non ci sono rivelazioni a parte una cosa nel finale che poteva essere facilmente intuita nel gioco base. Come trama hanno scelto proprio un pretesto insignificante, con un titolo cosi sa quasi di presa per il culo. Lato gameplay il DLC è solido. C'è più focus sui puzzle ambientali, soprattutto grazie ai poteri di Alucard, che sono pensati per l'interzione ambientale più che per il combattimeno. Il moveset invece è molto simile a quello di Dracula. Purtroppo le mosse esclusive si sbloccano quando il DLC è già quasi finito, secondo me potevano evitare di introdurre grinding in un'avventura cosi corta
