--Could you tell us about your career up until your appointment as CEO?

Herman

Prior to becoming CEO, he was the general manager of PlayStation Studios, overseeing first-party game studios, formulating exclusive title strategies, and strengthening the PlayStation brand. He also served as vice president of SIE Worldwide Studios in Europe.

When I was a child, my mother ran a toy store. She wasn't very good with new technology, so I was always the one called in to demo a game console to customers. It didn't feel like work to me at all, and I would sneak into the store after closing time and try to beat my high score on Minestorm with the "Computer Vision Lightspeed" game console that was on the market at the time . It's a very fond memory, but looking back, I think it was around this time that I developed a strong passion for games.

It was my first experience working in the game industry as a student, and I aspired to make a career in this world. Prior to Guerrilla Games being acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment (now SIE), he served as co-founder and Managing Director of the studio, where he was responsible for driving the business strategy of the studio and all of its games from a creative and operational perspective.

-- With the appearance of many characters from PS titles in "Astro Bot," there are now many voices calling for the revival of SIE's IP. What are your thoughts on utilizing dormant IP?

Herman

Our extensive IP portfolio is an important asset for PlayStation, and as part of our efforts to strengthen our portfolio, we continually explore opportunities to leverage our legacy IP as well as develop new franchises.

──In 2024, Team NINJA's "Rise of the Ronin" and SHIFT UP's "Steller Blade" were released one after another by external studios other than PS Studios, and were well received. While PS Studios has a strong development capability, why is it that they are actively working with these external studios?

Herman

Creativity and great games come from everywhere. We develop content within PlayStation Studios, but we also actively collaborate with external development studios. It is important to have a wide variety of games in our portfolio that can be enjoyed by all types of players. To provide fresh joy and experiences to PlayStation players, we are constantly reviewing the contents of our portfolio and considering expanding the genres that are in demand and introducing new types of games. Our aim is to publish games from the world's best creators, both internal and external, and we have had a lot of success by working closely with external development studios.

──Like "HELLDIVERS 2," there are titles that have been released simultaneously on PS5 and PC and become huge hits. How do you plan to balance the PS5 business with PC development in the future?

Herman

Live service titles are released on multiple platforms, so attracting new players and increasing the number of players is key to their success. Therefore, maintaining the momentum at the time of release and penetrating a wide range of players is especially important in the live service field.

Single-player games are an important element in enhancing the appeal of the PlayStation platform, and we set strategic sales periods for each title. While consoles remain our core business, expanding to platforms such as PC will enable us to offer our games to more people.

We always prioritize providing the best experience to our players, and as part of that, we are also promoting the linking of PSN accounts on PC. (ndr: ahahahahah)

Ma che cazzo sì aspettava gli rispondesse? :segnormechico: E comunque per il 2025 ci sono questi due, visto l’andazzo bastano e avanzano.

Nah, il Plus non arriverà mai su PC (se non per lo Streaming Cloud), è semplicemente un modo per far pubblicità al PSN e ripetere l'importanza dei numeri di utenti attivi.

Ma non dicevi tempo fa che Sony aveva fatto una cavolata a non mettere DRM invasivi sulle versioni PC e che questo era causa delle vendite non stellari? Cambiato idea?
