Firefight is the basic TDM mode.
Countdown is a single life mode. Attackers must attack an area and clear it out. On your map, you have to be inside the cap zone. Once you take one objective, everyone respawns and moves to the next objective. Each time plays attack and defense, whoever does better wins. If you take too long, you get locked out (may have been changed in this patch in Classic / in general) and lose. Capture zones are the order of the day. Attackers get two reinforcements per side (the whole map, not one specific section, so if you use both on the first part, you get no more) which respawns several players as reinforcements.
Territory is amazing. Pretty straight forward, get into the capture zone and capture it. When the attackers capture the set of objectives they are on, the defenders are pushed back to the objectives behind them. Right now, I don't think there are any "odd" objectives like sabotaging arty or something. Respawns are available, however both sides have limited amounts of them and can lose by dying a lot. If the attackers don't push or are unable to start capturing even for a moment, eventually they get locked out and lose - that info is in the patch change log I believe.
